Mukteshwar is a small place, and hotels are few. It'll be tough to find a hotel for less than Rs. 1000 per day. I was there in last May and could not find anything below 2K.

Ramgarh also has a KMVN which will be cheaper.

Nothing much, though. No great views, its just off the main road in a general area which will soon be like Karol Bagh. Avoidable unless you are stuck overnight in icy roads (as I was when I stayed there)

Ramgarh has a nice little colonial building - Writer's bungalow (if memory serves me right). This is a nice place to spend a quiet week-end.

Yep. Mahadevi Verma's house, I think. Or is that the Ramgarh Bungalows?

I came to know about this 10 years back...Even once I saw a prog coming in Star News or Star plus(2-3yrs back)...at 11:30pm...reporting the same thing..I remember room no 109 to be haunted...
I am also interested in staying at this Dak Banglow..may be next time I visit Ramgarh/Mukteshwar..

KMVN, Mukteshwar

Please note the 30% discount for August.
Still on the high side IMO.
Ah well, can't beat the location.

How come no dorms, Piyush?

Vt,
If you can get a booking for the PWD bungalow from Nainital, that will be within your budget for sure. Meals only if you arrange ALL the provisions, but you cud eat at KMVN, it's 10 metres away (across the road).
