Munsiyari triplog

Now i've managed some time to post a short triplog.

DAY 1
Route taken : Delhi - Moradabad - Rampur - Rudrapur - Kathgodam - Bhimtal - Bhowali - Almora - Binsar

Left from delhi early at about 4:30 A.M on 13th May with my wife in a hired Indica. Managed to reach Binsar by 2:30 P.M where i had prior booking in KMVN TRH.It was cold and damp in Binsar, a welcome change from sweltering Delhi heat but there were no views.Went for a some aimless walks in the jungle and sunset point after lunch. Pic of the day : valley view from Binsar

DAY 2
Route taken :
Binsar - Dhaulachhina - Seraghat - Berinag -Birthi -Munsiyari

We woke up early in the morning but there wasnt any Himalayan view so we went for a 1.5 km. hike to zero point, came back and left for Munsiyari at around 8 A.M. The route that we took had excellent forest cover initially , we stopped at Birthi TRH for lunch with excellent Birthi falls as the backdrop, then came the steep hike to Kalamuni pass and behold Himalayas could be seen in all their glory. We reached Munsiyari by 5 P.M and checked in KMVN once more with excellent views of Panchachuli throughout the evening.

DAY 3
Day 3 was spent in roaming around Munsiyari, a short hike from Zara resorts took us to Munsiyari Bugyal region and it ended in Nanda Devi temple with a sheer drop to Goriganga gorge. The meadows were excellent and so was the valley view. We had lunch in Broonse restaurant in Zara resorts and then went for a short hike to a a nearby Tal but got lost in the forest and had to retrace our way back, i was perhaps the most beautiful forest i had ever seen.

DAY 4

The next day we went for a trek to Khalia top. Our vehicle left us at the starting point of the trek and from there the trail went steeply through a thick forest. Then came a meadow followed by another very steep trail through rhododendron trees ( Khalia top was the only place where we found these trees as their bloom time is late due to altitude), then came the vast stretches of Bugyals with grass, small wild flowers and nothing else. Unfortunately there was no view from Khalia top and it started raining so we had to beat a hasty retreat.

DAY 5

Route taken : Munsiyari-Birthi-Chaukori-Bagesgwar-Kausani-Ranikhet
Day 5 was spent travelling back to Ranikhet through excellent Kumaon roads and natural beauty. We reached Ranikhet at around 3 P.M and checked in again in KMVN after lunch went for some aimless strolls.

DAY 6
Route taken: Ranikhet-Ramnagar-Moradabad-Delhi

The last day we again took the not so frequent route through excellent forests and corbett country and was back in Delhi in the afternoon.

Munsiyari is one of my favourite places. First went there in 1999. Last time I went in 2006, February. Was too sad, as there has been a lot of development, and that has caused it to become a dirty place. If you walk down the market, there is so much litter, and garbage around. People need to be educated to keep it clean. And by none other than people at Darkot, 8 km down, which is a beautiful small village, with good sanitation, well designed drains, and neat and clean place.
Anyways, Rishabh, your pics are great.
