How bad is the weather in RISHIKESH now?

Hi,
I'm leaving Mac Leod and heading to Rishikesh. I heard that there the weather is also horrible, but I'd like to have an idea of how heavy the rain is and cloudy. Is the hot more 40c? I've seen the sites on weather forecast but they give contradictory infos (about Haridwar,... I couldn't find Rishikesh).

Also I heard that the city is very crowded now, butwill be difficult to find a place? My bagpack is heavy, so does anybody knows if I can leave it in the train station (locker) while I look for a guest house?
I'll need to stay or in the downtown or near the Yoga Study Center that seems to be the very south, does anybody can recommend a place to stay there?
Thanks a lot,

Hi,

The reply may be too late, but these days rishkesh and haridwar are crowded with kanwarias.
Also, several roads e.g. haridwar to delhi via meerut are blocked for traffic and so it is taking considerable time to travel via alternate routes. It is useful to keep this in mind when planning your travel.

Rishikesh was very humid (we just stayed there for a night on 5th august), cant say how it will be during the day.
Also, if you plan to drive further down from rishikesh towards srinagar/ joshimath, you wud need to plan for landslides. On 1st august, there were major landslides on this route, blocking the road for almost 4 days...............

Place to stay - GMVN Rishikesh, rooms are cool, food is good, it is away from hustle bustle of main rishikesh city
Charges - Rs 500 per day for a double bed room

Hi -

When does Shravan end? I thought the kanwarias are done mid-August but I don't know exactly when. I will taking the train to Haridwar from Delhi, but was planning on hiring a car to take me back on 19-Aug. Will the roads be clear by then?

Also, how is the weather?

I've been posting this several times over the last days, but some decent sites to check for weather would be:

A good site for the current weather situation is at http://www.imd.gov.in/. Try also http://www.onlinenewspapers.com/india.htm for latest local news.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, it was late but nice, it can help smbd.
It dind't rain for 3 days, so it's really , really hot. About 30C, but feels more.
The locals say that the apice of the festival will finishes in about 3 days (13/Aug), and that the city will come to normal. But I also heard that it will keep one more week, even if not as crazy as it is now.
If you can wait some days will be better. However, this city is lovely anyway, if you can be patient you can enjoy even in the crazy indian crowd (crossing the bridge with a crowd of pelegrins shouting, and feeling the bridge shaking was quite an adventure..., but I'm still alive and enjoying).

Carpe Diem and do good
May all beings be happy and free from suffering
