I was in Lucknow recently and I did a homestay at a haveli type residence in Hazratganj area. I had a large room with a terrace. The people were really really nice, I had a wonderful time with the family, they went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and meet all my requirements. Rent was 1800. They have wireless internet access too. I also saved the guide/driver's phone number, if you want it just pm me..

I stayed at the Sagar International Hotel near the Hazratganj area for one month and it was fine though I did not have to pay for it!!! The food at it's Chhote Nawab restaurant is just fantastic!!!

Cheers,
Aadil.

Hugo, I didn't stay at a hotel, i stayed at a family residence, they do homestay tourism... very genteel people, they totally welcomed me into their family. I went there a stranger; but my hosts treated me like their own daughter, their children and I became close friends. There's indian hospitality for you, something that's hard to find at any hotel. If you'd like to stay there, pls call Sudha at +91 94151-48548 and tell her "Choco" sent you. Or you can email me your itinerary and other questions you may have as I speak to her regularly now.

The driver's name is Bharti, he's employed by the tourist office at the Gomti Hotel, his number is +91 98397 52472

If you want to stay at a hotel, the Gomti is very popular as a budget hotel.
