I personally didn't have a very good time in Gwaldam. Met alot of not very friendly people. Some who insulted me.
There's lots of gems in Kumaon. Katarmal,Jageshwar,Patal Bhuvneshwar,Shera Ghat,The little villages on some of the Glacier treks, etc. |

hi,
Chakrata is about 90 kms from Dehradun, you can travel from Dehradun-vikasnagar-kalsi-Chakrata 0r Dehradun-mussoorie-Kampty falls-Chakrata. Well it is arestricted area for foreigner. places around Chakrata are spectacular Kanasar,Budher and Deoban are just unknown gems. Budher has these Miola caves which stretch to 100 kms to the plains, they say pandavs while hiding used these as there hidden routes, Mr.Miola was a german traveller who explored them but fell midway and perished there, This route you can travel to Tiuni and then enter Himachal travel to Chaupal famous for apple orchards and then to simla. its a beautiful drive, well i have even done the trek from Chakrata to Simla. I am living in dehradun and have purchased lands in Gwaldam and Gopeshwar, this belt is also in my mind now. regards charat pratap Last edited by Dilliwala : Aug 6th, 2008 at 02:11. |

In kumaon binsar is awesome with it's moss covered virgin oak forests, amazing valley views and the vista's of great himalayan range.Chaukori is really good and so is munsiyari and abbot mount.I never liked the touristy places like nainital, ranikhet, almora or kausani.
