Come to think of it, you're not very safe going there! Just as well your trip is cancelled.

As long as terrorist related activity (kidnapping with AK rifles) is missing, I consider myself safe. Just whizzing thru the road is going to invite predatory amazonias? Then I might want to "see" it I will have some other people with me.... Haven't you survived the trip? You seem to have...

Worse comes to worst, kyaa hogaa? They can't eat me up ? Or can they?? What say?

Of course not by whizzing thru the road, you have to go into the interior.
Altho my trip to Chakrata was very short, I survived, yes. Unfortunately . Maybe I shud have stayed longer? Anyway, I think it's more of a legend nowadays.

They don't eat men up, just entice. Or poison, if enticement doesn't work.
Not sure if only bachelors are in danger, or all men.

Stop Press!

All references on the previous page to the one-way system between Kalsi and Chakrata are now invalid.

It has been withdrawn w.e.f. 26 Jan '08. Traffic is free to move in both directions, at any time of day or night.

I may also add that the road Chakrata-Tiuni is not in as bad condition as reported here and there. I got as far as Koti-Kanasar only (30 km), but there are daily buses plying between the two places. There are a few bad spots, and on the whole the road is not in great condition, but I've seen far worse. And it's almost traffic-free so driving it is quite a pleasant experience, aided by the lush green surroundings.
