Delhi to Munsiyari
Hi people!!!
I and my friends are planning a road trip (by car) for a week from Delhi to Munsiyari by the end of June. I have to book the KMVN Guest houses in advance so i need to ask few things from the experts here!! 1st day, I have decided to go straight to Jageshwar and stay there for the nite. 2nd day, Jageshwar-Almora- Bageshwar-Chaukori Will be staying there for 2 days. 4th day, Chaukori to Munsiyari 2 more days there Now on the 6th day, coming back from munsiyari, i cant go straight to Delhi, so which is a good place where i can stay for one day? Arnd 5-6 hrs away from Munsiyari? Is Pithoragarh an option? or small places like, didihat, gangolihat? Im confused!! Please help!! Regards APARNA |

You may consider Binsar sanctuary. KMVN has a lodge in side the sanctuary.
Since you will be having your car with you do visit the underground caves of Patal Bhuvaneshwar. |

If you go to Pithoragarh, then (I am not sure) you may find it shorter to go via Lohaghat to Delhi. Maybe you can return that way.

Get hold of a Nest & Wings map of Uttaranchal, available in any good bookshop. Then figure out the route u want to take, there are 2 or 3 poss - depends what u want to do. The booklet with the map also gives u routes and distances, not always accurate, but useful enough to plan with. U will find that the map also gives the location of KMVN/GMVN RHs. On hill-roads, work with an average of 30 kmph and that will give u a good idea of where u'll be at what time. All the places u mentioned on the way back are ok to stay at - check the type/category of rooms available from KMVN's website, the smaller places don't always have the deluxe or semi-deluxe rooms. Pithoragarh offers u the option of driving to Jhulaghat if u want, 50 km off-track on the India-Nepal border. There's a bridge going across the river to Nepal, therefore the "jhula". I've heard it's nice there, haven't been yet. Once u've studied the map, come back with more questions if u need. Whatever route u choose, u can't go wrong, therefore it's best u and your friends decide for yourselves. Altho, I do feel Delhi to Jageshwar is a very long drive in one day. I know people do it, I wudn't. But that's just me.
