Wink Auli visit in mid June. Information Please!

Dear Friends i am planning to visit Auli and Badrinath around 25th June along with my parents (50 years old). My doubts are,
What will be the temperature that time? Do i need expect any showers?
Is it woth spending Rs 400 for rope car to Auli from Joshimath.
What are the nearby places i can visit aroud Auli with my parents? I heard of tapovan!
Is it enough if i spend 1 day for Joshimath & Auli and 1 day for Badrinath.
Thanks in advance!

You will not find any snow in Auli in June. Only attraction would be view of Himalayas especially Nanda Devi from Auli .
You can go to Tapovan, there is one hot sulphur spring there and is worth the ride. I went there last month and we hired a taxi for Rs 1300. We went to Auli(right upto Hilltop Resort) and Tapovan and were back in Joshimath before 5 in the eve. Start early for Auli if you want to get clear skies. There are many temples in and around Joshimath most famous being Adi Shankaracharya Temple. Yes you can do with one day in Joshimath and Auli but am not sure about Badrinath.

Thank you for your information. How far is tapovan from Joshimath. Is it on the way to Auli? I mean can i go to Auli and then from there to Tapovan or both are in different directions? Will there be any shared autos are bus service to tapovan?

I do not see the reason for opting to go to Auli during the month of June. there is nothing there. Remember its a sking slope where you will find cows and bufalows during the off months. I would suggest you to drop the idea altogether.
If your parents are fit enough to walk a little I would suggest Bhabisha (future)Badri, I think a little after Tapovan. Jeeps are avaiable from Joshimath its on the Mallory route.
Going around Joshimath the Narsing Temple, the Shakracharya Ashram will take some time. The ropeway may not be working at all during the off season.
Always expect rains. In Gharwal the weather becomes cloudy after 11.00 am. If you are very lucky then you may get a view of Nanda Devi that too very early in the morning in a clear sky.
Tapovan is not on the way to Auli.
One day in Badrinath may not be enough, if you plan to go to Mana which I would suggest there are places to see at Mana like Vyas Cave, Ganesh Cave, Bhim Pool and Keshabprayag (the confluence of Saraswati and Alakananda) etc and if you can walk 5 Km there is Vasudhara, which can be seen on the way to Mana also not to mention the Drapadi Temple etc.

Tapovan is about 15 KM from Joshimath and it is not on route to Auli. You will have to go to Auli then come back to Josimath for Tapovan. There is a trek route from Auli though.

Yes you should get shared taxis for Tapovan from Joshimath. There is a powerplant coming up at Tapovan so many vehciles ply on this route. You will not get a shared ride from Joshimath for Auli. Even if you are able to get 1 due to Badrinath tourist flow, it will not take you right up to Hilltop resort and you will have to walk a lot with your parents.

Yes, if your schedule is flexible then go end-Sep or early-Oct. Much better, monsoon and number of tourists wud have greatly died down. June is a horrible time on the yatra route.

I am planning to go to Auli in mid august and I was informed by the localites that it will be closed for SAF games. Please confirm if Auli is open during your travel from GMVNL before travelling.

Aah, that's the reason they closed it for renovation. Who knows whether they'll allow the public in before the SAF games end?
