Has anybody experineced it ? Howz it for a couple to stay ?Howa food and other amenities?

7 minutes walk from both Ooty railway station and Central bus stand
TV, Hot water, Cafe, Laundry.
Food Ok (3/5)
Rooms Good (4/5)

Are you referring to the TTDC run Tamil Nadu Youth Hostel? I have not stayed there but passed by it many times. Excellent location just off Charring Cross, walking distance from the Botanical Gardens and a longish walk to the station and Ooty Lake. Even if the food is not so great, there are plenty of eating joints within 3 min walk, at all budget ranges. If your budget permits, go for the nearby Hotel Tamil Nadu instead. The youth hostels are safe and secure. Some hostels also have a locker facility.

Has anyone taken up the 16 days Kailash & Mansorovar yatra by Travelmasti Holidays Pvt.Ltd in September. Need feedback before making a concrete plan.

i checked their website. for accommodation we need membership.can i get membership on the spot when i visit the hostel? i want to be a member for a year or two

Mail and check with them. Normally people become a member first and then avail the hostels.

I recently become member through online; you need to upload your pic < 50 KB on YHAI membership page.
Also I dont whether its true or not but somebody was telling me that in order to book Hotel all the people (who are gonna stay in Hotel) should have membership..is this true ?

do they generate membership card online and mail us/allow us to print?

Both..it is generated at the instant you pay (credit card or netbanking) and you can take printout..or just wait for 10 day they will speed post..I got mine recently and the photo was missing

(for which i spend some time to compress/clip to make it <50 KB)..

one more thing ..my one year membership will expire 31st Dec 3009..
so its better to renew in january ..
