Which is the nearest airport from kodaikanal?

Hi all, I was planning to visit Kodaikanal in mid-October.

I have heard Madurai is the closest airport; however, do let me know if there are better routes.

Madurai Airport is the nearest. Its 120 Kms from Kodaikanal.

Which is your starting point. Let me know, so that based on that alternate routes can be suggested

Doesn't make a huge difference. Coimbatore is 131 kms from kodaikanal

The route will be Coimbatore, Pollachi, Palani and Kodaikanal.

Palani - Kodaikanal route will be scenic but its single road with more twists and turns.

From madurai, you can touch kodai road, batalangundu and then you are on to the ghat road for 48 Kms which is a nice road to kodaikanal. This is the regular route which is used by all.

Coimbatore has non stop flight connections from many more cities than Madurai so in that sense, Coimbatore airport is a better bet if you are coming from say, Mumbai or Delhi, whereas a flight from these places to Madurai involves a transit stop at Chennai usually.

The road journey from Coimbatore to Kodai via Palani is just 2 hours more than from Madurai to Kodai. I believe there is also a short cut from Udumalpet thereby bypassing Palani altogether but I have no idea about the condition of this road.

While madurai is the nearest, coimbatore is definitely much better connected than madurai in terms of direct flights from mumbai.
