Ooty toy train swept away?

Hello all,

I am currently travelling in India and I have got a ticket booked for the ooty toy train on the 24th December 2006. I was talking to someone on a train yesterday and they said that there had been a landslide on the line and that the train would be out for 6 months. Could anyone confirm or refute this for me?

Thanks

Most probably true. There were a couple of landslides and the roads were gone in a couple of places. The tracks too were gone but that's a lower priority. & it seems only some sections are running.

Any idea if the road is now open? i.e. can I get a bus up there?
If not, what is the best way to get from Cochin to Mysore?

many thanks

Get a good nights sleep on the overnight train from Ernakulam to Bangalore, then either get a train or bus to Mysore.

hi yoda,

if u dont spend time in ooty, you can also through cochin-coimbatore-satyamangalam-mysore by bus only.from coimbatore to mysore,it will take around 230 kms.

through cochin-bangalore-mysore is more than 200kms far when compared to satyamangalam route.

if u will not have a problem in travelling by bus,go through satyamangalam route.
