Is there any Flower Show in Ooty this January

Hi

We 3 members are planning 2 days trip i.e., 25th and 26th January to Ooty from Mysore. As this the first time am going to Ooty, please guide me about visiting places and I am also planning for a train journey which is a famous one. So, I need the train timings also. Is there any way we can book the tickets online for that.

Please help by giving your valuable suggestions ASAP.

As you are visiting via Mysore, you can take the Masinagudi Thalaikundah ghat road which shorter compared to the Gudalur Pykara Ooty route. Both routes are scenic.

On the Masinagudi route you may well spot wildlife on the road if you time it right.

Pykara lake and falls are nice to visit, much better than the Ooty lake, so are the Wenlock downs, Kamaraj lake and 9th mile meadows on the same road. If you ignore the actual tourist points and proceed about 100m further cutting through the light forest, you will enjoy the same scenery and fantastic views minus people+litter.

Dodabetta peak offers 360 degree panoramic views of the Nilgiri mountains. The botanic gardens are also a pleasant place to spend a few hours in. Syms Park at Coonoor is also nice. No flower shows in Jan, it is mid winter and all the shrubs are pruned! But you will certainly see plenty of seasonal wild and cultivated flowers all over the place.

Enjoy the bakery products in Ooty and the fudge and chocolates at King Star.

Since you are really short on time, I suggest you do a quick train journey such as Ooty Coonoor Ooty instead of all the way down to Mettupalayam.
