How to reach Ooty from Bangalore?

Hi,
I wish to go for a trip to ooty and kodaikanal for 3 days but couldn't find out how to reach there and thus am not able to draw an itinerary.
If anyone of you ppl out here please tell me how to reach ooty from bangalore it will be of great help and also in general abt what to look out for places in ooty and kodaikanal.

hi ,there are direct buses from bangalore to oooty and kodaiknal aswell . if u intend to go by train ..u can hit dindigul from bangalore and later take a local bus to kodaikanal ( about 4 hrs roughly ) ..there are buses from kodaiknal to ooty as well .. kodikanal there are some beautiful treks around , do not miss the berijam lake . ( u need the forest wardens pernmission for this ) ..the greenland youth hostel is the best place tostay there . Oooty try staying at the y.w.c.a THEY have good dorms for Rs 70 /- and they can also arrange for guides if u want to take day hikes .. cheers and have fun

They have comfy deluxe buses, carry a light woolen sweater, the wind can be chilly.

Take a train from Bangalore to Coimbatore. From Coimbatore, you have many buses leaving to Ooty. In case you wish to go by train from Mettupalayam, you need to take a bus from Coimbatore to Mettupalayam (which is there every 5 minutes) and take the train from Mettupalayam.. In that case, you may lose a day as the train leaves Mettupalayam early in the morning..

Bus generally takes around 3 1/2 hours.. They stop in a place called Burliar for about 15 mts.. Anything between 3 1/2 to 4 hours

Coimbatore by ooty by bus takes around 3 - 3.5 hours and by toy train 5 - 5.5 hours

Hooo 4 hrs my god, okie, so from blre if i take KSRTC bus it will be better right? How many hrs from blre to ooty?

Unfortunately, I dont have idea on KSRTC bus.. But I think it would go via Mysore..

Bangalore - ooty - KSRTC bus via mysore takes 8 hours. services available - carona, rajahamsa. no volvo.

It was sometime back that I took a bus from Mysore to ooty, the trip took more than 5 hours, thats because the bus broke down on the way up. It is around 230kms. Guessing it should take about 4 to 5 hours by bus.
