Sandakphu - A photo story
Sandakphu - A photo story
My journey to the land of ever beautiful would not have been beautiful....if it would not have been you....the greatest the mightiest....Kanchenzungha and family.
It was just perfect..to be in the place ...which people call their heaven.... Yesss my friends you guessed it right... I am back from my trek to Sandakphu..... Starting from a super duper breakfast of kachori and sweets at Garidhura bajar....an awsome moonrise from our hotel in Maneybhanjang..... first view of Kanchenjhunga and her entire family.. from Tumling....beautiful sunset from Kalipokhri...blizzard from Bhikheybhanjang....and a whitewashed Sandakphu.
To sum it up...I am just too eager to share this entire journey with all my IM friends...with some pics which I hope all of you love watching.
Day 0 :
Its a half day office . My hubby's friend and his wife arrived my place . We reached home by 3:30 pm, got ready quickly . Rucksacks were ready . We took a cab to Sealdah station for our train uttarbanga express at 7:30 pm. My family came to see us off at sealdah station with dinner , roti-chicken kasa...

We availed the train , it was right on time. We four were from kolkata. The rest 7 people would avail the train from burdwan. And the train started for NJP. Oh ! After around 10 months we were again heading for Himalayas. The last was Tunganath- Chandrashila. We chatted among each other. We friends were together after long time. At around 8.30 pm we opened our dinner pack. My mom's preparation is always a wow thing ! After that a sip of mirinda !
And a cool sleep !
Day 1 :
The train reached NJP right on time. 10 of us hired a mahindra maxx for 1700 rupees and one took another shared car.
NJP station :

The road took us through sukna tea estate, simulbaari tea estate towards right at garidhura bazar.

We were hungry . Our car stopped here for kachori ad sabji. It was good one. Now we headed towards mirik. I had seen the photographs of mirik lake but never came here.It is lover's paradise.

a house at mirik

We got our first view of Himalayas from Pashupati in the right side at around 10:40 am. we were all so excited. From thereafter we could get a view of Simana , another village.
We reached Sukhiyapokhri at around 11.15 am. We could see big white magnolia flowers in the trees. It was a peaceful experience to see those.
Finally we reached Maneybhanjan. Chilled winds welcomed us. We were looking for aour windcheaters badly.
It was Oddyssey lodge. The rooms were good though the toilets were not. Auntyji and her daughters were moody enough. The lunch was good or may be we were too hungry

We moved around after lunch in the bright sun, went to the opposite side shiv mandir, it was beautiful , wind would blow you away ....and there we met Srijan ...the very sweet and cute and charming our porter cum guide. No guide could have been better than this 20 year old guy. His ever smiling face would steal your heart away. Without him we could not have walked through the blizzard, i could not have descended through the hills of gurdum....

Srijan Tamang

During the afternoon stroll we found this....
Reminding of British India :

the trek route :

the rising moon through behind the hills:

the night 'adda'

And time to say "Good night, Sweet dreams"

Aditiban,
Your photo links are not quite right somehow.

Hi aditiban, the flickr link will not straightaway work. Flickr has stopped providing the link straightaway.
The link is shown like this (as below), now doing insert image will not result into a picture here. You have to do grab the BBCode of an image from the share option and then insert imagae on the highlighted part.
if you only do an insert image on the highlighted part it will look like this -

Not sure if this helps..................?
