The bus will go only upto Uttarkashi. Netala is a short distance away, you can make it there by share-jeep from Uttarkashi. Only if it's late in the day will you need to hire your own car.

Oh thank you for this little trip through pictures! I love broken-down-car scenes. It is always a funny souvenr to take pictures of that kind of moments!

If you're going that far, 2 nights should be bare minimum. 3 would be better.

I got your point . Before I fix the no of days in Harsil, please inform me, early morning start to Gangotri and return Harsil ta evening, is it a good idea? Public transport available from Harsil to Gangotri?

Do you mean Harshil-Gangotri-Harshil? Yes, this is doable. Should be no problem with transport till early afternoon, but best to check on arrival at Gangotri what time the last transport leaves.
