Hi, and sorry for replying late.

The main attraction of Singalila is viewing Kanchenjunga group and Everest group together. Everest group, Kanchenjunga group and Pandim makes a figure like a man is lying on bed and this structure is called sleeping buddha.

The trek is a 2 days extension of Sandakphu-Phalut trek. The route is along the Sikkim - Nepal border. Max altitude is around 3800 mtr. and terrein elevation level is easy to moderate.

Villages, shops, trekkers huts are available upto Phalut only. For crossing singalila you have to take 2-3 days ration and tent also.

Guide is must for this route, not for the nature of the route, but it is a rule set by the govt. Guide available @ 400/- per day and porters available @ 150/- to 250/- per day.

Normal route is like Manevanjan-Meghma-Chitrey-Tumling/Tonglu-Gairibas-Kalapokhari-Bikheyvanjan-Sandakphu-Phalut-Chiyavanjan-Uttarey. Stopages are Manevanjan-Gairibas-Sandakphu-Phalut-Chiyavanjan-Uttarey.

NJP to Manevanjan is a 4 hr. ride, Uttarey to NJP is a 6-7 hr. ride. May be you have to break in Jorethang at the time of return from Uttarey, means Uttarey -> Jorethang -> NJP.

If you are a group of 8-10, budget should be within 3000 including all Kolkata to Kolkata. If you are solo, it may increase with another 600-800.

Happy trekking.

Actually there is no need for a so called Guide on Goecha-La route, routes are almost well marked and porters are enough to guide up to Goecha-La.

So inspite of 1 Guide and 2 Yaks I considered 2 Porters and 1 Yak. Budget will be cheaper and also porters will cook for us .

Total cost come down to below 6000/-.
Hi Supratim,
Incredibly detailed pdf!! We are going for Sandakphu-Phalut trek from 25th sep-4th October. I guess some of the items in your pdf would be relevant for our trip also.
Is Goecha-la trek possible in last week of December? Then we might try to go between 25th dec-3rd January.

Smile

In my opinion, Goecha La should not be tried in December, you can try upto Dzongri.

Thanks a lot for your feedback . Let's see how we feel after our first trek to Sandakphu, then we might try upto Dzongri in December last week; or we have to postpone that till next may.
