Thumbs up Delhi trek meetup 28th Sept

Hi There Delhi people !!

I am in Delhi on Sunday Sept 28, 2008 enroute Shimla to Mumbai after completing my trek 15 to 26 Sept 2008.

Please suggest a short jungle walk or something like that. Driving time should be within two hours of Delhi. Walking time should be maximum five hours. I don't know much about the jungles around Delhi, but I am sure you will come up with something.

Lets meet-up and do a short walk

MAX 5 hours?!! SHORT?!! Well, you certainly lost me.

Traipsing thru the undergrowth surrounded by the red-stone cliffs of the Aravalis, bordering Bhati mines and the sanctuary, that shud take care of a few hours.
Start early, it'll be hot among the stones.

I'm in

I recently purchased the Rock Climbing guide to Delhi. Apparently there is bouldering and climbing on the Central Ridge within 3km of CP!

The area Dukkha is talking about is the area on the ridge between Buddha Garden and Parade ground.

Its a campus, and even though it seems to be open, but roaming there is trespassing.

JNU has jungle and a few caves too.

As long as we are not a big mob its O.K to be inside the campus. Ousiders do need to be accompanied by atleast one JNUite. Its not a good season (because of infestation of snakes & scorpions during rainy days!!) to head for Caves in JNU, however, jungle is ok.

The route i was referring to Avid is as follow:-

JNU-Sanjay Van-Ruins of PrithviRaj fort-Qutub Minar. Its kind of Jungle walk of about 2/3 hours. I did it as Moonlight trek.

JNU and Sanjay Van is separated by a road. We can skip JNU and start from Sanjay Van.

As suggested by Jyotir Da, Tuglakabad Ruins is another good option

I have never seen a scorpion, and snakes interest me too. Though perhaps not a King Cobra at close quarters. Won't be in Delhi until after this meetup and five hours would be too much in the heat anyway, but is there a "safe" way I could see these things sometime? Or am I just crazy...

The Delhi Zoo You hardly get to see an animal there at the zoo.... Snakes... Definitely in ample quantity you would find.

Doubt for the scorpians though...

Spread over so many acres, you just get tired of looking out for animals and prefer some shade under a tree in scorching heat. That was 6 years back when I last checked it out.
