hey i am trying to enroll myself for the Winter trekking..

But it seems the online booking is closed..

I spoke to someone in Delhi Office and he has asked me to send an email to his personal email id with my personal details along with my pic...

I am a bit paranoid about sending these details, if its safe enough to let out my personal details..

Please advise quicjkly if i should send an email as he said there is a seat available for 5th Jan

Even i had a similar issue last year (couldn't book online). Eventually i called up the YHAI Delhi Office (01126110250) and asked them if they could accommodate me and my 3 friends in any batch. Since there were last min cancellations they were able to accomodate us in one batch and then we sent D.D + Registration Form + Medical form to the DElhi Head office.

Before calling them i even posted a quote to check if i can go without doing any registration. Check in this same thread. But better confirm everything and then proceed.

Well go ahead and send them the demand draft (but do keep a photocopy of it). Please note if you are not a YHAI member then u have pay additional 100 rps for enrolment to YHAI. In that case you have to send 3 forms (a) Enrolment form (b) Medical form (c) Registration form along with the DD.

If you are already a member of YHAI then u have to send Form (b) and (c) + D.D.

Please note : Once kishore confirms your slot. He will send you receipt for the trek payment and One year YHAI membership card (incase you r not a member)

For Do's and Dont's on the trek. Mail me at mahendra.jadhav@gmail.com

Ok Mr. Kishore Chauhan confirmed my reservation for 5th Jan..

but now i am really scared about my safety..

This guy was trying to be friendly with me over the phone...and wanted details of my itineary and was even ready to plan everything for me..

I told himj to just take care of confirming one seat for 5th Jan and rest I'll take care...but before hanging up he told me " he might join me in Dalhousie on 5th"

Is this place safe for the girls going alone, as I dont know who or how this guy would be..

I am thinking if I should chuck this trip on the grounds of Safety(i've got the train tickets booked)

i seriously can't predict such "D" souls. Don't waste your money if u r doubtful about your travel. The trek money is non-refundable.

i feel it is always good to have atleast one companion on a trek. Reason - Last year one guy met with an accident at Kalatop and he fractured his foot.Although the military guys got a straight chair for him and got him admitted to the nearest hospital. Now since his friends were around they could leave the trek and accompany him home safely.

Mady don't discourage her....everything has its plus & minus side. If you are traveling in group then often you remain confined to your group only, creating diff. groups among batch...& hardly mix up with others preventing national integration...hence you hardly get to know about other cultures, customs, rules etc. etc. which I think you should get to know while doing national trek.
Also YHAI remains fully prepared for such situations- medical aid, their campsites are generally located close to roadheads so in case situation arises they can tackle it easily.I've done all my 6 YHAI national treks alone & this was the easiest one(even YHAI guys call it a picnic trek).
