Me going with YHAI first time..hows the food and accommodation provided by YHAI.... One more IMP issue,,, charging cameras .. i am worrying that if we cant get electrical point for charging batteries.. then taking digi cam is not of use.. is there any provision for charging????

I am very much excited abt this trek..i have cn some of the pics available on net, Himalaya seems to b heven....wow...i would like to c photoes taken by u all.. if possible pose the link after u upload ur pics.. also u ll get to c pixcs by me in this forum after 25th of may....
I am from mumbai and I did sar pass before 3 years. Its really wonderful trek and you will love it. There is no possibility of charging. But I think, its worth taking 2 to 3 batteries along for your camera. That will be really advisable.
Regarding food, you will get good quality vegetarian food. Dont worry about it.
In short, you will have wonderful memorable experience of your life.
I am going to sarkundi pass this year.
Hope for the best.
Shailesh

I am from mumbai and I have registered for sarkundi pass this year. Reporting date is 28-april,2008.Inform me if anybody is on that date. If anyone is from mumbai we can go together.
I would be highly obliged if anyone can advice me how to go in the small train from Jogindernagar to Pathankot or vice versa. before of after the trek. which railway station is near ? what will be advisable - before going to trek or after ? Is there anyone interested in going together ?
Regards,
Shailesh

Hi Shailesh. If u r coming via Jammu tavi from mumbai, then pathankot is near. I am not sure about the train timing from pathankot to Jogindernagar. You may get the info from Indianrail.gov.in. The route takes you around kangra valley and I am sure you will enjoy it. From jogindernagar you can anytime catch a bus to Manali. Since this train route is bit off route, I would suggest you to do this before trek as u can directly approach pathankot via train. After doing the trek u can directly come to delhi and then head to mumbai.

Hello All those who are planning to trek SaR pass through YHAIhave made the right choice. i did this trek in 2004 and this was my first trek ever and trust me I can still rmember each day.

It was the best treks till date.

It might be a bit tiring but please do not pay attention to the fatigue just enjoy the trek and the beauty around.

Smile Mountain Bike riding-Kullu_Jalori Pass

Hi Guys,

I intend to register for the YHAI mountain bike riding expedition. Wanted to know if its a good option or should i opt for Sar pass trek?
Also, is it neccesary that we register at YHAI treks in large groups, do they entertain small groups or single person as well.

I have done both the Saar Pass and Har-Ki-Doon (now Kedar Kantha) treks with YHAI, though quite sometime back.

The price they give, no one can match it. They give you a very sane advice about trekking, it is not a race. Stay as long as you can in nature, there is no hurry to run to the camp site. Food is good (at least for me it was) and tents decent.

We saw some real snow from Nagaru onwards (there are pictures in the links above) on Saar pass trek. One day we walked in snow for hours, that was Nagaru to Biskeri. If you do not have trekking shoes, you would slip and slip on snow, as I did

I finally stopped trekking with YHAI because at Har-Ki-Doon trek we had a group of 15 teenagers who were so loud all the time that we decided never again! We trek to escape all that. Now we trek in smaller groups (mostly family) but I would always be thankful to YHAI for introducing me to trekking properly.

Yes, I did it last year. There isn't much difference between Saurkandi trek and Kedarkantha trek as far as difficulty level is concerned. I would rate them as easy treks, as long as you remember, like Mridula said, it is not a race.

i am from bombay, i like to do trekking and i do it regularly through YHAI. I would say that you should join alone.so that you can make new friends and come across many new people.

hi,
You will enjoy trek SAR PASS,but I would suggest you that earlier dates you joined, its better because on one of the days there is a big snow slides ( around 2 Km ) at a strech. As you might be aware that everyday around 40 to 50 participants goes. So naturally, the snow would be enjoyable at earlier dates than later dates.
