YHAI sar pass trek
YHAI sar pass trek
Hey guys...
I and my wife have booked the YHAI trek to sarpass
Date (may 1st 2008). Two days back we saw that 10 tickets
were available, and 1 day later we saw that it became 5. After we booked it became 3. And now we see that YHAI has released another 10 tickets for each day. So we guess that most of you guys who have booked already are active in the net. If you some how land up here, pls reply so that we share info that we know.
I am confident that, as we do, you guys will also be searching the web everyday atleast once, just to read something about this trek
Thanks
Ananth

Thanks
Can you please let me know how I can book this trek,
Thanks
all you have to do is..
enter http://www.yhaindia.org/default.aspx
click on trekking programme.
choose the sar pass trek and book online with ur mastercard/ visa credit card. If you dont have one then the process is a bit more tough, you have to contact YHAI delhi office and may be send a DD on their favour and then get the tickets booked.
it costs u close to 2600 per ticket

Hi Ananth,
Me and my colleague venky registered today for sar pass for 3rd May..
Also, I decided by a coin-toss between sar pass and saurkundi pass.
Any one knows the better of the two?

Hi swati..
yes .. leh was amazing... u have to do tht manali leh road trip... u can find all shades of brown and even pink mountains.. we visited pangong lake.. stayed there in a tent for a night.. tht was a gr8 experience.. we could literally c the lake changing colour and the bluish green shade of the lake is awesome... cold morning, pleasant sun rise near a cold lake with a cup of hot black tea ... tht should be the first on ur list.. but remember it will take two days for u to reach leh from manali via road.. u have hptdc buses, but u have to book them in advance and c if they fit in ur schedule. ofcourse u can take a cab as well and sumo is the prefered one..
we also visited all the local monastries, shanthi stupa of course and did river rafting in zhanskar river ( both of us dont know swimming) .. but we enjoyed every bit of it.. the excitement in the rapids cannot be explained..
only thing to watch out for is that you need minimum 6 days to explore leh.. and u are bound to have mountain sickness after climbing from manali to leh.. so u have to take 24hrs rest once u reach leh.. and u have to keep this in mind before planning leh immediately after sar pass.. if u still think leh is possible and u need some more info .. pls do ask ..

i have already done my Basic Mountaineering Course (BMC) in May, 2001 from HMAS, Manali.. since 2001 i did not take any vacation or go for an outing.. so this time its going to be a month long vacation for me.. i m very eagerly looking forward to it too..
Hey Guys.. we plan to start the SAR PASS Trek this May 18. We are a team of 7 and have trekked in south extensively. Have covered a few places like Valley of Flowers, Satopant lake. Was an experience of a life time
Quick questions: although it appears a steal at the prices per head quoted, how many people do they accomodate per trek? and how do they prevent the immediate vicinity from becoming one massive methane dump?
on balance, are YHAI treks worth it, even with the nice price tag?
would like to hear from someone who's done it.
