YHAI - Dalhousie Winter Trekking

Hello guys,

I am from pune. Planning to go for Youth Hostel Association's Dalhousie winter trekking plan scheduled from 19th Dec 2009 to 5th Jan 2010. We need to select any five day out of this period for trekking. I dont have any friends who can join me for this trekking. Please let me know if anyone of you is planning for the same trip.

Hey manik.. Im planning to come for this trek alone too.. I guess the whole point is to get to know people.. kinda excited as this will be my first trek..

Hey Manik and Krisha, Im also planning to come for this trek along with two of my chennai friends...I had been to Sar pass some 7-8 yrs back.....loads of fun and excitement waiting for us friends...

I'm planning to do the trek earlier.. Around 20th to the 23rd..

I have the same kinda doubts that you have about himachal (your post on Himachal doubts)

.. Do let me know in case you find out something interesting..

Certainly Krishna.. though no one has replied so far... r u covering any other locations too... i plan to visit the Himachal tourism office and check if they have anything which might help...

I dont have any fixed plans as such.. Ill b tryin to fit something around the YHAI trek..

Predominantly looking at Himachal.. Thought of Sikkim, but ill lose considerable time traveling.. J&K Im planning to do next year with Ladakh..

So im left with Himachal.. Besides ill only have around 5-6 days so i dont plan on spending too much time traveling.

Mayb try to make it to Kufri for a ski.. But im not sure if the ski season starts by then..

I may plan in second last or last week of december, as i had to plan my leaves accordingly.

Hey All

I booked myself in on the 19th..

Manik.. you better hurry as the dates are getting booked like crazy..

I was originally planning for the 22nd, but the dates were all full..I got my leave approved only yesterday..

In fact only 24th and 25th seem to be free, and a few seats on 19th.

hey manik.. Sorry for that rushed post.. There are dates starting 29th and its all quite free.. If your ok about spending new year eve on the trek, your ok with your plans..

Hey guys..

Ive booked myself for 19th.. So ill be in the first batch that starts the trek.. Not too sure if that is good or bad..

About the skiing though.. its looks unlikely.. i spoke to the manager of Hatu, Narkanda and he said it hasn't snowed before end December-Jan in the last 10 years.. Not very likely this year as well i reckon..

Gulmarg seems to be another option for snow.. but its way too expensive..
