YHAI Dalhousie trek

I have registered for the YHAI Dalhousie trek that starts on 31 December. I would appreciate advice on the following from IMers who know about the trek:

1. In the only previous trek I have done, to the Valley of Flowers in Garhwal, I have used a duffel bag and a small daypack. Are those enough, or do I need to buy a large backpack?

2. Does YHAI arrange porters, or does one carry the luggage oneself?

3. Are there any other short winter treks from Chamba or Dalhousie, which I can do after the YHAI trek?

Thanks in advance,
Raghu.

Dalhousie Treak

MR. nyraghu.

SANTOSH here,

I am also joining this treak but my reporting date is 25th December.

(1) As per my knowledge Valley of Flowers is not Treak it is just like a tour/picnic. For this treak you have to carry your luggage by you only if you cant able to carry your luggage you can hire a porter which is availabe locally and you have to pay for him.

(2) After YHAI treak you can go by any group and you can also arrange the treak with your own group with local guide which are available normally or you offer your new thread so that any body interest they may join with you.

(3) For this treak you have to take a good quality rucksack or YHAI is also providing if you dont have, because you have to carry you three days clothing and other required materials with you hence the duffel bag is not advisable.

if any more information you required please feel free to contact me my email id is "santoshtel@yahoo.com"

Hi Ritu Verma and AvidTrekker,

Thank you for the response. (Sorry for the delay in replying --- I hadn't read the forum during the last few days.)

Given that I am a newbie, and what AvidTrekker has said, the Manimahesh trek is beyond me.

Thanks again.

Raghu.
