Saptarishi is 4400 mtrs and we crossed a high pass at 5300 mtrs on the other side of the same mountain this year. Point is, even if there is snow, it would be packed snow and would not pose much problem with adequate preparation of boots and gaiters. Usually local porters and herb-collectors who double up as guides would advise you for August because that would be the time when it would be a totally challenge free, walkable route. It's a call you have to take. If its a excursion from a primarily Yamunotri centred visit, the later the better. If you wish to trek to that place, ready to handle a kilometre or two of snow challenge(packed snow), anytime in pilgrim season would be ok. |
