Question Which Mountain is this?

Do any one of these 4 pics have Nanda Devi peak in them? All these are from my trip to Chaukori...

I have a different image of Nanda Devi in mind, and none of these look like it

Please help...

Looking at the second of your attachments, http://www.indiamike.com/india/attac...this-nd-2-.jpg, and your info that the photos were taken in Chaukori, the tall mountain in the centre background could be Nanda Devi. The one at the right of the picture could be Nanda Devi East. The peak on the left side of the picture could be Nanda Khat. I can't guess what the one in the centre foreground is.

I find the Alpine Club Library's Himalayan Index (http://www.alpine-club.org.uk/hi/index.htm) very useful in my attempts to identify the mountains I've seen. In the case at hand, one can search for info on mountains by latitude and longitude at http://www.alpine-club.org.uk/hi/screen2b.php Given that Chaukori is to the SE of Nanda Devi, the mountain on the left of the pic is a bit to the South of Nanda Devi, and essentially at the same longitude. The coordinates of Nanda Devi are 30:22:12N and 79:58:12E. Searching for all mountains between lat. 30:00:00N and 30:22:12N and long. 79:00:00E and 80:00:00E at the above URL gives a list of about 25 peaks. One can attempt to make an educated guess from among those.

HTH. In any case, there is a fair amount of guesswork involved, and I may be wrong.

Raghu.

Aaha, Google does help... Looked at this site:

http://www.moran-mountain.co.uk/mora...evi%20East.htm
This has an image from the exact opposite side, so looks like my 2nd & 4th image is actually Nanda Devi..

But then again, from which angle (or place) does it look like this:
http://www.indiamike.com/india/attac...nanda_devi.jpg

From the west of Nanda Devi, e.g., from Auli or Gorson Bugiyal, as in

I recognize Nanda Devi East and West in pic 2 and 4 in the first glance, no doubt about that. Let me think about the two other pics.

Since Chaukori, where the photos were taken, is to the SE of Nanda Devi, it seems to me that the mountain on the left foreground in pic 2 must be to the east of Nanda Devi, the one in the centre background. According to the Himalayan Index cited above, the coordinates of Nanda Devi are 30:22:12N and 79:58:12E, and those of Nanda Ghunti are 30:20:24N and 79:42:36E, so Nanda Ghunti is on the west of Nanda Devi. So, I don't understand how the mountain on the left in pic 2 can be Nanda Ghunti.

Pic 1 and 3 are Nandkot. http://pithoragarh.nic.in/images/nandk.jpg. Nandakhat is not like that, it has three humps. http://mdb2.ibibo.com/05053616c74656...wali-dwar.jpeg. Praks is right.
