Where is lake Reewal

In his book Himagiri Vihar, Swami Tapovanam has descirbed his trek to Lake Reewal. Has anyone been there? I had never heard of this one before and even Google has not revealed much. May be it is know by some other name. The book suggests that it is 15 miles South-west of Mandi - HP.

Distance wise it sounds about right 15 miles is 24 Kms. Have you been there? Is it worth a visit.

It's a wonderful, peaceful place mainly inhabited by Tibetan's with a small Indian town just outside the lake area. Here's my pic's of it, the ones in the middle with all the prayer flags on the rock's & tree's are of Padmasambhava's cave, the views of the mountains here are wonderful it's about 30-45 min's uphill from the lake to the caves RS8 by local bus, not to be missed! Agree that this wud have to be what's also known as Tso Pema. The correct name/pronunciation is Rivalsar (Riv-aal-sar) so the Swami was quite close.
More info here, including some bus info.

How much time will Rewalsar take if i plan to drive down from Delhi.

Will it be exactly on the Chandigarh/ Manali road.

Any other places around that place to visit.

How is Gushaini and Naggar nearby.

Please suggest

If you drive "down from Delhi" you will eventually arrive at Kanya Kumari not Rewalsar...it's up!

By car via Chandigarh it should take about 11-12hrs.
Yes it's on the road to Manali,as far as Mandi where you turn off for Rewalsar (1hour).Hoping to visit Gushaini in the next month.Nagar is a beautiful little village with plenty to see & do, such as Nicholas Roerich Museum & Gallery, Wooden Palace etc. KK

You don't need to go to Mandi first when travelling north. Turn left at Ner Chauk, you'll eventually end up at Rivalsar. From there, there's a direct road to Mandi. Ner Chauk to Mandi direct is 14 km, via Rivalsar 29 km/1 hour extra.

Gushaini is nowhere near this area. Naggar is 4 km from Patlikuhal across the Beas; Patlikuhal is 24 km from Kullu.

I plan to go in the 3rd week of August with two kids (2 mnths & 3 years) old and wife.

Guess 12 hrs of drive may be taxing on the little one.

Any good place other than Chandigarh where we can stay midway for a night...also how will be the road and weather condition at this time.

My plan will be a relaxing one week with 2 nites each in Rewalser-- Naggar--Rohtang

Can you also suggest which will be the best hotels to stay in these places (primarily in Rewalsar and Naggar) considering my 2 mnth kid.

The only other place that wud make sense for an overnight stay is Swarghat.

It's August. Won't exactly be sunshine all the time.

2 nights at Rohtang? I think not!
