There is an alternative trekking route from Hanumanchatti ( on Badrinath Road) to VOF via Bhamani Dhar. I guess, it is meant for hardy trekkers and requires camping.

Other trekkers in IM may be able to give more information on this trek.

No .. I am not actually going! ..... just checking out

Apart from Live Treks, I do lots of Virtual Treks; by reading about other's treks and travels, while I am in Bombay. (Thanks to Broadband & Google ... & now IM).

Mrs KS is now fine .... and almost fully recovered from that back-pain. Besides she always has my trek/travel plan Dates for a Calender Year by Sept/Oct of prev year. (you know, something like annual Corporate Budgetting .... in this case called Domestic Negotiating).

For example .... my remaining (sanctioned ) trips for 2007 are:

1) EBC Sept 20th Oct 25th
2) 10,000KM 4-Corners of India, Car Driving tour (Mumbai-KanyaKumari-Kolkata-Varnasi-Pathankot-Jaisalmer- Mumbai from 10th Dec-07 to 25th Jan-08.

I am now researching & planning my 2008 trips!!!

No doing it with another friend (an IIT-classmate) .... so will have a share driver ..... plus he shares my passion to travel and see India. We have planned a 40-day Route. He retires on 8th Dec 07 ... so we have slotted this to start a couple of days after that!
