Dilwala is right. We were literally pushed away from Ghangaria GMVN
on 6th of October morning. All staffs were on holiday mood. The manager himself left the lodge on 6th October. We were given room on condition that we should vacate the place on 6th morning. Every year Hemkund Sahib is closed on 5th of October. All activity on that area stops after that.

Don't worry about it, you'll get something nearer the date, even without a booking. GMVN tends to show sold-out status becos of blocking rooms for package tours.

One quote from a travel agent is 100 dollars a room for Devlok hotel in Ghanghria. is this too high?
4000 bucks for a room? Yes! Too expensive I mean. Waste of money.

We stayed at Hotel Pritam just opposite to GMVN. Sorry lost their phn no . But there are so many options to stay. OK, very basic options but you’ll definitle get one room or in worst case, if no accommodation anywhere then you can stay at Gurudwara.

I would want to avoid Gurudwara as much as posible. I stayed there, great folks but the bathrooms were extreely dirty. You wouldnt want to step inside, there was no water and there was terd lying all over. I almost threw up. The so called god hotels would definitely charge you 2k + due to the heavy rush. Even they are very bsic as said above.

Much obliged Somnath, that is very helpful thank you very much!
Also for anyone else enquiring,
http://www.pantown.com/board.php?id=...24&action=view
this link is to a thai forum, so it is all unreadable, but a forum user, Mex, posted this link and in comment 8 you can see the number of a 'Hotel Deepak' on the window

01381 226214

It looks beautiful from the photos!
Please keep the posts coming, as more replies and posts of accommodation, the more chance we will have of finding rooms!

Hiya...
All I'll say is relax...
And please avoid booking in advance...
One, you'll surely get even better accommodation than what you book for, once you are there...!
Two, that better accommodation will surely always be at a much lower price...!
Thatz another version of the Good Ol' Murphy's Law for you...!

There are a plethora of hotels at Ghanghria (Govind Dham)...
Pick a hotel of your choice only on arrival...

Just one piece of advice, try and look for a hotel slightly away from the main central street... Two reasons for that - the street dogs might keep barking right through the night... And two, the early morning 'jathas' (groups of pilgrims) to Hemkund Sahib start off as early as 4.00 a.m. with their soothing religious chants...

One last option, if you have that kind of money to spare, are the Swiss Tents just before you reach Ghanghria... They are located next to the Helipad, around a kilometer short of Ghanghria...

But honestly, I would rather just walk past those Deluxe tents, and check out the hotel options in Ghanghria itself...

Cheers...!
