Valley of Flowers & Hemkund Sahib
Hi,
Would suggest you postpone your trip, as safety should be utmost.
Road conditions are really bad, and it is very very dangerous. I've just returned on 6th August. While coming back from badrinath, we narrowly escaped a landslide. The bolero right behind us got caught in the landslide and fell into the gorge below - and there were casualties as well.....That made the danger very very real for us......

Aps, appreciate your concern. I am back safe and sound. Yes, you are right, some landslides around Piplakoti were really scary. When you look down from the bus window, you feel as if there is no road and just the roaring river hundreds of feet below. I did face a road block due to landslide but got cleared in about an hour's time. Weather was generally cloudy and was drizzling once in a while.
Flowers were there, but not very eye catching. I did see a vibrant flower patch near Hemkund.
Next time I would like to plan a trip through a little more peaceful route. Pilgrim route should be avoided. By the way, I also went to Mana, fell in love with the sleepy village.
Thanks

Another 6 km from Mana is a lovely waterfall called Vasudhara Falls... (or is Vasundhara falls) It's quite a lovely site, all along the picturesque path - with even ice at the base of the waterfalls even as late as august and september...!
This point happens to be the last spot along the Kalindi Khal trek, which, Inshallah, God allowing, I plan to undertake sometime in the near future...!
Cheers...!

Hi Solo Trekker,
Do we have to walk for 6 km to reach Vasundhara falls or can we go there directly by our vechile. ?
I would be visiting VOF, Hemkund Sahib and Badrinath in the first week of september.
If time permits would like to visit vasundhara falls also ..

hi there...
well, the last point of nh-58, the highway to heaven, is mana...
there is sufficient parking space at mana village, and a few restaurants too - all of them preferring to call themselves the last chai shop before china...! i'm afraid, u would need to walk it - but then, that is one helluva walk... a short stretch of between 5 & 6 km - with beautiful sights on either side - sheer pleasure...! enjoy...!!!

continued...
ideally, u should reach ghanghria the first day of the trek; the second day for the vof, the third for hemkund sahib and leave for govindghat the 4th morning...
once u r back in govindghat, u reach badrinath the same afternoon... i walked it from badrinath to mana to vasundhara and all the way back the same evening itself... see how much time u have, 'cause it can get dark pretty soon in these parts...

i have been to laxmivan ( during my 2006 trek to Satopanth tal + swargarohini) very beautiful site. do not try to cross alaknanda from Vasudhara side. you can never make it. you'll have to cross alaknanda from Mana itself.click on the link to my unedited youtube video on the blog, taken from Laxmi van side showing vasudhara falls + the bhojpatra van + alaknanda + alkapuri glacier - the source of alaknanda
