Thank you! The weather does not sound very promising :| Anyway, we are still excited about the trip
And good that we booked the Shatabdi from Delhi to Haridwar going by the road closures!

yep that's true.. one should always take train unless it's not a rail route.. i never give train a second priority (for land conveyance)!!

hey, i am back from VOF and HK. the trip was awesome. first the kanwarias, next torrential rainfall and lastly horrible landslides. haridwar is totally blocked. no rickshaws allowed. whatever you have to go , you have to go by foot. regarding landslides i encountered 2 during up journey and 8 while coming down. there are another hundred or so potential areas. we reached ghangaria and managed to stay at GMVN bunglow.
i myself could manage to go to VOF and HK, but sadly my wife and daughter could not. even in VOF one day the route was closed due to landslides. due to tremendous rainfall i could not take my wife and daughter to VOF. the route to HK seemed to me really tough after proper enquiry at ghangaria which i also felt during my trek. i am disheartened that after such a strainous journey to ghangaria i could not take them to the destined place.
i will post the details afterwards. bye for now. see you soon.

Don't be disheartened, there'll be another day. And then it will feel doubly sweet.

GMVN's website always shows no availability because they block rooms for their own tours, which mostly do not materialise. In this season people mostly get a room at GMVN. In any case there are other options - you're sure to get something, so don't bother booking.

Hi,
Have been reading this thread since quite a looong time, and have been just lazy not to register. But now I have.
I have already booked my self on the GMVN tour no. 12 leaving on the 18th from haridwar. We are four friends. If any body else is going to be there at that time please do leave a messege.. would love to meet like minded people.

Anyone know what is the right season and time to visit the place? If i want to avoid the heavy crowd on to then which would be the right time?
Thanks.
Thanks.
