We haven't selected any Haridwar hotel yet. Do you know any good clean hotel in Haridwar? We are not looking for any 5* hotels.
A good clean hotel with good food; may be a 3* will do. |

Incidentally, Haridwar has no 5* hotel.
It has Ginger (Run by Taj Hotels' group Company). Excellent hotel, but I am not sure about the left luggage facility. Ganga Haveli is also good. Then you have LeGrand also........... Before choosing the hotel, please inquire about the Cloak Room facility. In fact, I would advise you not to leave any valuables in your left luggage. It's my own country, but still................. |

Hi delhiwala
I think I understand what you mean. I was born in India but lived too long in UK. Should we carry our luggage with us all the way in side the car? We will have two big suitcases plus other hand bags. I don’t think that the boot of an Ambassador car will be big enough for all that. Is there an estate car I could hire at Delhi? You might wonder why we are carrying so much luggage!! In fact we will be visiting our relatives in other parts of India after finishing our trek. Last edited by sks551 : May 12th, 2009 at 22:55. |

Probably, Ambassador can't accommodate this much luggage. Then you'll have to hire a MUV like Qualis/Tavera/Scorpio.
Or may be you can leave non normal items (relatively inexpensive) in your Haridwar hotel. |

Yeah I stayed at Ginger one time, good value, buffet restaurant, bit noisy if full - anyways - check it out and book online if need be.....

Gangotri - Gaumukh - Tapovan
Hi guys,
We are planning a trek from Gangotri - Gaumukh – Tapovan during first week in Oct. We are going to need camping gear, guides and porter. Do I need to book them in advance? If so then does any one know a good guide who might be able to assist us? For two of us trekking; how many guide/porter do we need? What is the current rate for guide/porter? I am sure I’ll have more questions later…. Moderator's Note: Your two threads on the same topic have been merged. Last edited by Hal : May 14th, 2009 at 00:23. |

Hey,
I completed this trek in May 2007 and took all the camping gear and Guide from Uttarkashi. Guide costs you about Rs 500/day and potter about Rs 300/day. I suggest you call up the Guide who came along us on that trek and ask about the current price tags. His name is Kapil Rautela and his contact number is 09410177688. Do let me know if you need more information. Regards rd |
