Trekking shoes in India

Hi

Before starting the trek there were a lot of apprehensions about trekking shoes. We had decided on woodland shoes but some doubts were expressed about that too. We stuck on to our decision and bought Woodland Article No- G-40777. It was priced at Rs 2100 but we got a quantity discount of 15% for ten pairs. Rs 1800/- per pair. The shoes look heavy. Are heavy. But the moment you wear them you feel protected. Excellent foot grip, very good cushioning, deep treaded sole for all terrains. Dust, mud, scree, ice, boulders, water. The shoes took it all. I found them especially good during the descent. Saved the toe a lot of beating. The soles are rolled up about two inches which do not let the water in while crossing small puddles, streams.
A true Indian trekking and outdoor shoe this.

Just one. 95 Km's. Nine days. Through all sorts of terrain.
The shoes still sing.
Go get 'em.

which trek did you do with these shoes ?????/

I am planning to do "Jalori Pass & Serualsar Lake" this December around 25-30. I was wondering as to what kind of shoe will be good for that trek at that time of the year.....

Any suggestion ???????????

jalori-Sriyolsar

Hi Harsh

We did sankri harkidoon Borasupass chitkul trek this aug.
Jalori to Sriyolsar is a beautiful level walk through a dense jungle. Not more than 4 km's one way. Any good sports shoe will do. There is a dhaba at the lake also. An old man runs it. He can even provide shelter just in case. If you are visiting Jalori in december go prepared because Jalori can sting even in summers. Though it is only 3100 M but due to its geographic location it can be very cold. There are a few dhabas at the pass proper. Don't do just this trek. Walk from Banjar to Jalori pass; approx 35-40 km's is one of the most picturesque and it is all along the road. Or atleast you must walk from Ghiagi to the pass. Ghiagi has a rest house "Shringi cottage". Shoja has a Parmar guesthouse. Shoja is only 4-5 km's from the pass.
The Sriyolsar lake is to the left of the pass. Another trek goes right to the ruins of an old fort. A good 4-5 km walk. Take a local guide from Jalori @ Rs 150 a day.

i'll advise you reconsider the time of trek. dec might be late and it snows like hell in Seraj area.

Have a good time.

Dec. not good for this area. WOODLAND has been tried and thrown away...I personaly preffer shoes with high ankle. These days you can have HI-TECH shoes available in almost all major cities.

ACTION shoes is again a INDIAN PRODUCT and they make TREKKING series which is very good.

Bata hunter shoes(definately a no-no trekking in wet conditions ) was the first ones recommended to me . Went trekking with then and got severe blisters and soon they started to tear. Delhi's the best place to buy imported trekking shoes . In mumbai its woodlands, sports shoes .But for the himalayan treks i bought the caterpillar shoes from heera panna stores at haji ali still as good as new 5 years down the line .!If i do another trek in the himalayas ill source my shoes from delhi .There maybe better ones available in mumbai but would have to search for them.

I saw them at CrossRoads around 15 days back and immediately remarked to my friend that I saw them on IndiaMike. Price was less than 2875, but don't remember the figure right now. [or maybe it was 2875?]

They are entirely synthetic, but definitely worth this [sale] price.

Third floor of CrossRoads where the adidas shoes are displayed. Many skechers are on display. Try it out.

woodland

Woodland has come a long way. The trekking shoe I'm referring to is high ankled. It comes in a light weight variant as well which costs about 200 more.
Real good shoe this!
