Lucky,
I wish you are right and woodland may be come a long way.. But as a personal exp, I have used both hunters and woodland.. Both aare equally bad.. Luckily I lost my woodlands while croosing the river in my last trek.. No plans to buy any more of themm.. Would definitely liek to check any better recommended show... Action shoes:: Searched for them in main markets of bangalore.. unluckily no showroom of Action .. Need to go to suburbs or small towns to find action shoes.. but again not sure if they would keep the trekking series..

My recco... NO Please
Quote:
I have not recommended anything. I just saw the shoes pic on IndiaMike posted by cliffhanger and saw them physically after a few days. Then I read navinkurian's remarks about wanting to buy them. I merely strung the events together and gave navinkurian the address to attain his desired object. Here's my recommendation: For ice and glacier walking: http://www.sierratradingpost.com/xq/...qx/product.htm For regular treks: http://www.sierratradingpost.com/xq/...qx/product.htm Here's an outright bargain at USD 35 [rs 1540 ONLY] http://www.sierratradingpost.com/xq/...qx/product.htm and something for 31 dollars http://www.sierratradingpost.com/xq/...qx/product.htm and http://www.sierratradingpost.com/xq/...qx/product.htm and something without ankle support for ONLY 25 dollars http://www.sierratradingpost.com/xq/...st_display.htm

I'm trying to find a good store to buy trekking/walking shoes in Delhi or Cochin where I'll return in 2 weeks. Is there any that people can reccomend or should I try and find something in Ireland where I am now. Thanks, Peter. |

The Euro/US quality is just NOT available in India.
Buy from Ireland. If you want Indian quality, Woodland or Action "trekking" are available in all the cities... |

I have used hunter shoes and they have very thin padding, so after a while my knee hurts but the grip is good and the knee stops hurting after a few days

Sahil, the shoes are easily available at the bigger towns from where the trek starts, I wonder if it is Dalhousie for you. But then the problem is to break them in.

I have heard good reviews of Action trekking shoes. Try to find them if possible.

Up in the north, Trekker's PVC sole could be an issue as PVC soles gets very stiff in cold. Shail_V, I would suggest to get Woodland Trekking shoes, it will be something around 2.1K. Action Trekkers is around 500-600.

Got hunter shoes at Army Stores in Shivajinagar. I guess many people bought shoes from him for Himalayan trekking. The shoes are not branded but I think they are ok. In case anyone is interested number is 080-25580893.
