I just completed a trek to Dodital in pouring rain, in slushiest, wettest terrain imaginable. I had my Woodlands on which I had bought a good 8 years back ( at around 1500 Rs) and used previously on VOF trek and others. The shoes worked beautifully this time as well, giving good protection. Would definitely recommend them (have not used them on snow while trekking though they were alright in snow at Narkanda the past winter)

Place in Bangalore for shoes?

Can anyone suggest any place in Bangalore to get good imported branded shoes?
I noticed a lot of shoe stores at National Market and near by places. Is it ok to trust them?

Hi Paresh, check Adventure One, next to State Bank of India Main Branch in St. Marks Road (Below Sankars book stall. Closed on Sunday, weekdays open 11AM till abt 8PM. Ask for Ali.
Other option is Adventure Workx opp Catholic syrian Bank in Residency Rd, Brigade Rd junction. Both keep very few pairs of Lafuma, Millet, etc. Getting small sizes little difficult.
Price range INR4500 to 10000.
Few shops in Commercial st keep Hi-Tec. Beware of fakes. Price range INR 2000 to 3000. Also chk Big Baaazar in Hosur Road and Total Mall in madiwala (Ground Floor near Quality icecream stall. Total mall has CATerpillar shoes.

@saugatad

Thanks a lot for the pointers.

In between, I got the Jungle boots from the Russles market. I got mixed reviews about these shoes. Because the price is low (INR 350/-) I want to try these first. If they fail completely, I will definitely spend on these multi thousand shoes.

In between, I checked the BigBazaar on Hosur Road (Near Forum Mall). Around 20 pairs were there and they were good. Price was around 2-3k. However, no model in high ankle was available.
Just sharing some info if some one else is interested...

Weinbrenner 801-7503 high ankle shoe is not avilable in Bangalore. Woodlands and others appeared heavy. Any thoughts on how to source 801-7503? Hyderabad too is OK. I have barely 3 weeks before the tour to Hemkund, BB,Kedar and Gomukh.

It is true Woodlands are heavy and chunky. But you have three weeks left. You need time to wear in your shoe. Go ahead and buy the Woodlands and start wearing them everyday. You really cannot afford to spend more time looking for shoes.

One day when you have enough money in your pocket, invest in a Hi-tech shoes (now available in India/Bangalore).

As I had mentioned earlier, the trek that you are doing (Hemkund, BB, Kedar and Gomukh) really does not require an ankle length. You can think of buying a regular Weinbrenner and saving some money. Put the saved money in a Hi-tech later on.

Weinbrenner shoes in Mumbai

Hey Guys, Weinbrenner shoes are available in Mumbai at 2 places in Bata stores:
1) Fort (Near Akbarallys - adjuscent lane on left to flora fountain)
2) Nirmal Lifestyle Mulund

If anyone of you is looking for this and have any colleagues in Mumbai ask them to get you one. Stocks are very less, so hurry fast.

Paresh, jungle boots work well in jungle treks and low altitude treks, preferably in dry conditions. In high altitude treks and snow, wet/rain tracks, they may not work at all. It depends on your trek plans.

Hi, try AdventureOne near State Bank of India, Main Branch in Bangalore. On St Marks Rd crossing, below Sankars book stall. They have Lafuma, Millet, Zamberlane. Range 3.5K to 10K. Sizes may be issue. Ask for Ali. Open on weekdays 11.30AM till 8PM. HAs good stock of all trekking equipment.

AdventureWorkx opp Catholic Syrian bank in Residency Rd-Brigade Rd junction in Bangalore also stocks Lafuma-few pieces. Very small shop.

Saugatad, Yes, I read that in this thread. But for near future I am planning to cover treks around Bangalore and there is no snow here. I am doubtful about the wet conditions because in shopkeeper's words there shoes are 120% water proof while the member here do not have good opinion about that.

I hope in sometime I will be able to find some good bargain on expensive branded shoes may be at Bangalore or any other city I visit.

Thanks

Trekking shoes for girls?

Hi,

Have been looking all over for a decent pair of trekking shoes - for women.

No luck.

All the existing brands seem to design only for men - and even their smallest size is two sizes too large for me...

Does anyone know which brand has smaller shoes, and where I can get them?

I'd ideally prefer something water-proof...

have you tried the 'woodland' shoe stores breeze?
they have great trekking boots for gals.
there is a woodland outlet on brigade road - and one in commercial street and safina plaza.

i have used woodland's myself - but not for trekking however
how good are they for treks - i dunno
they look kinda the trekky sort...

Hi brishti

I did go to Woodland's showrooms - the one's in Himachal Pradesh - they didn't have a thing...

Guess I'll have to pick them up next time I'm in Bangalore...

Any idea if your shoes are waterproof?
