Trekking organisers in Manali
Hi everyone.. This is my first thread on this forum.I have been visiting this forum for the past one week or so and this forum really rocks.. :-) Thanks to all those who are behind this brilliant idea.
Well I am planning for a trek along with couple of my friends to Mantalai Lake in Himachal. Planning to be there in the last week of June 07. I have couple of queries and concerns. 1. Is it the right time for Mantalai trek. 2. I have got the quotation (Rs 11400 per person ) from one good organisers from Bangalore, however the amount is something out of budget. Could anyone guide to the good local trek organisers in Manali or who can organise for me in lesser amount. Though this amount includes porter, Tents, guide, food and cook and one night stay in Manikaran (which i can arrange on my own), still thinks the amount is too much. My Native place is Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh and as Dharamsala have local trek organisers, I am sure there must be in Manali. Any Pointers..?? Thanks |

Hi,
For the trek you are planning you don't have to go to Manali. The route to Manikaran is from Bhuntar which is few kms before Kulu. Reach Manikran and make arrangements for the trek. try contacting SAHARA NGO on ghnp website and you may like to take the porters and guide from them. Hope this helps you and you all have good time. If you have any army cantonment area in your region, you may consider checking out the "Sadar Bazaar" area.
There will be some ex-veterans run shops, where you can buy most of the equipment. I bought tents and shovels and trekking shoes and sleeping bags and a huge array of stuff... and I got this for around Rs 2000/- I bought my stuff from the New Delhi Sadar Bazaar area though. I have the Business card of the shopper keeper "somewhere". If you want, I might be able to hunt it down for you.. |
