Hi..
I will be touring Sikkim and Arunachal in the the last two weeks of march. Can extend the trip maximum by a week or so. We will be maximum 2-3 people. I would like to kow trekking options in the above places and the equipment/provisions etc needed to be carried. Regards, -Sumit

Hi,
Trekking in Sikkim can be real fun and at the same time really exciting & thrilling. The trek starts from a place called Yuksom which is in West Sikkim. This place is accesable from Bagdogra (4 Hrs drive). Usually trekker's make a night halt on the first day at Yuksom and then start their trek the next day from a place called Tsokha. The places covered are Bakhim, Dzongri, Thangsing, Samiti Lake, Cheemathang & Goechala. The entire round trek takes about 10 days back to the hotel in Yuksom and stay there for one night and move for your onward destination. Normally u need not carry much. Just your wollens, sleeping bags, etc. The trekking companies will provide with all the equipment and the tents for overnight stay. The clients are accompanied by trained and qualified guides along with cooks and porter's and Yaks for carying the luggages. Trekking in Arunachal is also a very unique experience. You can try one of the most exotic ones which is the Thembang Trek. It starts from Dirang to Sangti Valley and covers Namshu, Chander & Lagam on the way. This trek will take around 11 days round trip and will start from Guwahati. Cheers Joy 9194340 60380 |

In sikkim u can do indipendent trek but in arunachal, u need to take service of expertise. This is a state govt. rule and indeed the the thembang trek is nice but there are more trekking options.
i beleive you can browse google for thembang and other treks in aruncahal pradesh and dzongri and other treks in sikkim wish you a happy adventure journey accross eastern himalayan states!!!! |
