I heard of a group of Burdwan (where I belong to) stayed recently at Phalut trekkers' hut. But the info i got from DGHC, it will not be repaired in the due time. I'm really confused

As far as the latest info i got (thnx to Jeevan Chetri of Maneybhanjan), DGHC is not giving any booking of the hut & it is officially closed but the caretaker takes money & lets u stay at the hut. Seems like music in my ears

Thumbs up Back from Sandakphu

Hi...
Back from Sandakphu today morning. All DGHC huts are closed, but we managed to sneek in at the Tonglu hut. Couldn't go to Phalut due to the BANDH .

Will be uploading the snaps asap. Anyone needing informations are most welcome to post it.

Im really thankful to Sayantan (Babu), Suprotim & all other IM members for the information shared with us. Will also like to thank Debuda ( Debrata Mukherjee), Barunda (of Alpine) for more info & suggestions. Thank u Jibanda (masterjee) for all the help. He really have guided us regarding the Bandh issue.

Hi Sandeep,

Do you have any news when the huts might get reopened ???

Yeah, the BANDHS are really frustrating. Anyway, waiting for your snaps...

There is no definate news when the huts will reopen. Actually the huts were given to lease to an organisation named Gleaneries (i hope to spell it correct) last year. This is year neither the lease is renewed nor the DGHC is opertaing themselves. Anyway the Tonglu & Phalut hut is operating un-officially. BTW on other places there are many private arrangements (some of them are really good). Hence u need not to worry.

We stayed at the following places,
1. Maneybhanjan: Chimal Lodge [operated by Jibanda, (Masterjee)]
2. Tonglu: trekker's hut (we managed to sneek in inspite of inital denial)
3. Kalipohkri: Pandim Lodge (literally service with a smile)
4. Sandakphu: Hotel Sunrise
5. Gurdum: cant recollect the name
6. Srikhola: Goparma Lodge.

A parital album is already uploaded the rest will be done next week

hi sandeep,
i too am trying to see if we can do a shorter trail in sikkim - can you help me?

Did you use one of these tour guys who organize the trip or can we land in gangtok, get a guide and proceed? how much did the cost of the trek work out per person?

Thanks!

thanks sandeep. Can you give guidance on whether sandakhpu is possible in december end?

or an alternative trek we can get to from maneybhanjan? need something similar to what ms.n needs -- 4 days, and no tents required. we have backpacks and sleeping bags, but it is too cold for us to pitch tents -- need teahouses along the trek.

can anyone else help with this request. I would be super grateful
