Well. If you plan to do an 8-15 days moderate+ trek in himalayas in December, I would expect you to advise, not the other way around. In general, Himachal is low lying compared to Uttaranchal. Have you checked out all threads by Dhananjay in himachal forum?.

December Dude! Don't ask me. You should first post, what your experiences are. Where all you have trekked or bicycled etc. Whether you are going alone or with company etc. Then someone might tell you. Also, what exactly do you have in mind. There are lots of popular treks, that you must have googled by know.

sry for not introducing myself earlier....
hav done 3 treks:
1. Sahasratal (via malla, kushkalyani.....) in gharwal
2. Goecha-La trek (Sikkim)
3. Khatling Glacier Trek
now plan to do sth during these Dec... preferably Trekking but if gud/isolated/unexploited trek routes are all closed than wud prefer going on a cylcing trip. Tough/strainous routes r welcome if they assure sth really worth seeing/experiencing
Our grp may vary frm 8-13 guys.... all the guys are selected on their performance during 24-25 day heavy conditioning camp..... so fitness b4 leaving for trek will b no issue.
If we'll go for cycling then 2 guys who hav already done it(in Spiti valley) will b accompanying us.
hav got our own Tents, sleeping bags/mats n all other reqd stuff.

Hi, All trek in Himalayas winter are nearly expedition stype and needs a lot of care and preparations. Only physical fitness is not going to work, mental fitness is also must... what is your plan and budget, let me know if can be helpful to you, I will be happy to help you.

If you are really looking for Winter Expedition go for CHADARA trek in Ladakh Zanskar region(Forzen River Trek), which i m going in Jan 2009.

Cheers !! Manish
