Trekking Gagotri to Tapovan in Feb 2010

Hi,

Has anyone trekked Gangotri to Tapovan in February ?? Is it advisable or achievable ??

There are several existing threads on the Gangotri-Tapovan trek. Please utilize the search feature and post your questions there. Most people who conversed on such thread will have it subscribed for updates and you'll have a better chance of getting informed advice.

I think Gangotri opens around April, so in Feb it will not be accessible. You will not get any transport, food, accommodation and also keep the permit matter from Uttarkashi which probably you will not be able to collect at that time. More of all the snow condition at that time will be bad, so in my opinion, perish the idea and try some other low altitude snow treks like Har Ki Doon etc.

Thanks Roy. You saved me a lot of time. Makes things clear. Can u suggest options for low altitude treks. Surely would like to touch & feel the snow. Never done before.

in feb you can explore dayra bugyal, dodi taal, har ki dun, saat taal, nachiketa taal and many more depending upon yr preferences
