We did it !!!!

Hello Everybody,

We started our trek on 26th June from Badrinath and we reached Gangotri on 7th July 2005. Our route was ............... Badrinath - Mana Village - Ghastauli - Arwapani - Arwatal - RajParv - Kalindi Khal Pass - sweta glacier - vasuki tal - Nandan van - gaumukh - Gangotri.

At the same time I must say that it was a very tough trek (though it was my first one). I feel that not every trek is this tough.

Like everybody said it was a very technical trek as well.

I'll post some photographs whenever I get them and share some more experiences in future.

We dissuaded you out of "abundant caution" principles to be followed for newcomers.

Yet you went ahead and did it!! Congratulations!!

Could you share the technical portions with us in some detail? With pics if possible?

Your feat shows your determination. I would still deter a newbie from doing Kalindi Khal as a first trek.

Dear Ashish,

I went through all the story and would like to congrat you on your achievement. It good that you had a dream and inspite of so many adverse comments you went ahead and did it. However, I would like to mention here that the greatest difference between a mountaineer and a fool is that a classy mountaineer knows when the things are going over his head and he is sensible enough to gracefully back out!!!

Always remember this: No mountain in the world is worth a man's life!!!
The mountain is always going to be there, it has been there till eternity, but you have got only one chance at life!!!

You can always make another crack at it but only if you are alive !!!!

If the things are over you technical knowledge and experience it is wise to remember the advice of all the experienced people you have heard on this thread and accept temporary defeat. There is no shame in temporary defeat because you know in your heart that you will be there again with more knowledge, experience and expertise, its a done deal!! So why bother!

Ehough of advice,

Do tell us more about yourself and your dreams in future,

It has been a privilage of having a person like you on this forum,

Keep it up but with a SENSIBLE HEAD!

Rahul

Hello,

I've got the pics. The size of the pics is much bigger than the allowed limit. Let me work on it. I'll probably post them on the photo Gallery.

I'll let all of you know.

Babuchand, one of my friends who went with me has the contact details of the Agent. I'll pass it on to you as soon as I get it from him. This time I'll try and be more active in replying back.

Hi Ludu,

The travel agent arranged for the tents, stoves, the food, guide, cook, porters and some of the equipment needed for the trekking.

The trekking equpiment that we did not get from the agent, we took it on hire from IMF (Indian Mountaineering Foundation). http://www.indmount.org/.
