Trekking and climbing January 2010

Hi, Ill be in India from the 27th Dec onwards, and will be spending some time in the Goa and surrounding areas till the 11th Jan. Heading back to SIngapore at the end of Jan.

Would really love to head up north to Ladakh and Leh to do some trekking. Would love to do some climbing and travelling along the way as well. Im particularly interested in wildlife stuff too =) Zoo's are fine, but in nature would be awesome.

Any tips on tracks available during this time? (Besides the Chadar track which i really cant afford.) Or can it be done without going thru an agency? I prefer traveling independently, but would hire a guide if local knowledge required.

WOuld love to have some trekking or climbing buddies along too!

me too

I'll be somewhere in that part of the world in February for a few weeks. Looking for something adventure filled-ish, be it white water rafter, climbing, rock or ice, mountaineering, would be great to have some company too. currently researching and narrowing down what and where and when... keep in touch if you want.

Hi mate, full-fledged trekking and climbing is not possible in Jan in Ladakh region .. Except Chadar ... you may be able to have day or two trip to small villages. .. yes and jeep safari can be done ..

as manish said, in leh/laddakh region you will not find trek options, in uttrakhand you may still find many trek routes open...
