trekking advise

Hi all

I have been looking for easy trekking options in june, have finalised on kedarnath trek for now. Have few questions around it

My starting ponit is Delhi and i have 4 days in hand for the entire trip.

- are 4 days enough for this if we take the night train from delhi to rishikesh

- Which is a better option to travel from rishikesh to gaurikund - car or bus. How much will a cab charge? Also how much time wil it take from rishikesh to gaurikund?

- Can gaurikund to kedarnath be done in a day or will it be too strenous?

- will we be able to hire a porter from gaurikund to kedarnath who will also arrange for tent accomodation and food etc in kedrnath and how much will he charge approx. Can we book a tenet accomodation in adavnce from delhi?

Than ks for ur help in advance...Also if some one can suggest some other trek then i wil be great

Hi

You will be able to find plenty of option for a shared cab to Gauri Kund from Rishikesh. So just hop into one and forget about it.

You can go upto Kedarnath within a day and there is no need to carry any porter or tent since the road is well paved and can be easily done (some toll on your knee though !). You will find option to stay in budget hotels in Kedarnath.

So come back the next day to Gauri Kund and from there to Rishikesh.

PS : I will be visiting Hampta Pass in June. This is in Manali side. It will take about 5 days of trek. If you are interested, let me know.

thanks

The first & only bus from Rishikesh to Gaurikund leaves at 5.00 hrs in the morning and reaches Gaurikund at around 14.30 hrs. There are cloak rooms at Gaurikund to leave your excess baggage, so no need of porters.Normal walking will take around 6.5 hours to reach Kedarnath from Gaurikund . Accommodations are available in plenty in Kedarnath,
