I have asked my vendor:
Manuadventures to book the Forest Rest House. But, was wondering if it is worth it and, if the Tents would actually be a better option? What say? Rahul |

Hey Rahul,
I visited Triyund on 15 Aug'09 with-in 5 hours from Mcloedganj. I started at 11.00 AM and I was back to Mcloedganj by 6.00PM. If you are planning to carry tents and all stuff with you, then no need to take a guest house there. However, if you are going alone than staying at Guest House is a better option. Why don't you hire a guide from Mcloedganj. He will carry all required items with him. My Suggestion: Try going to Elaka glacier too from Triyund, thats 4 kms ahead of Triyund. You can easily cover both the places with the time limit you have mentioned. Staying in tent is a good option and good adventure too, but guest house is also not a bad option there. cheers Sunny |

Hi Sunnyzach,
Thanks for the reply. I have already hired a guide and he has taken over the responsibility of carrying all the required stuff for us. (we are a group of 10) Going to Elaka (Ilaka?) Glacier is also part of the plan...depending on our physical state on day 2 in Triund. So, basically, I have option of Staying in Tent / or in Rest House and keeping everything else aside.. which is a better option with respect to, taking in the essence of the place, having a true experience of Triund. Also, I have read somewhere that the Forest Rest House is not that great and is dirty. Is that correct? Should I avoid it? Additionally, does the Rest House have an inbuilt washroom? Rahul |

Hi Rahul,
That's a wise decision to take a guide with you and that too anchoring a group of 10 is not a easy task. With a guide it becomes easier. There was this guide "Lucky" when I visited there, a nice chap with-in our age group and very jovial fellow who had immense knowledge of entire trek and places around it. In Ilaka (Elaka) though it was told to us like that it's a glacier but looking at it doesn't really gives a feeling of glacier. If you are having a guide and carrying tents, then don't miss the opportunity of staying in tents and enjoying nature. Then in that case, dropping the idea of staying in Guest House seems okay. Cheers and have a wonderful trek... Sunny Quote:

Hi Sunny,
Thanks for the info ![]() I will go ahead and take rooms in both the RH and book tents as well. As we are a group of 10, so we can easily share the two, and each one can have their choice. Thanks once again Rahul |
