You know its once in a life time experience and i don't want to loose the chance .Its now or never.

No obviously not. I haven't done any kind of rafting yet. I just stated what I have heard from others.

Well I wish I had the time to make upto ronti.

Nice catch line by the way...

My friend went to Rishikesh just 2 days ago . He was saying there is a 17 km stretch of rafting and there are only 9 times you will feel the thrill .It cost him Rs 500 but din't got the adrenaline rush as he was expecting.As per his saying there are only level 3 of rapids.

He also tried bungie jumping that cost him Rs 2500 excluding Rs 300 for transport .And they were charging a whooping Rs 750 for video recording and no photography are allowed there

Yup!!!! there are 3 major and 6 minor rapids...though 1 of the 3 majors is huge...you can say 15 to 20 ft high tides are coming from a stream...that was a hard one though...& there was a jumping point in the middle of the river where you have to jump from 25 to 30 fts...we did this oct 2011..

Hard to predict that; it's early right now (keep a watch through Accuweather and other links on net); always safe to keep raincoat to protect yourself.

We did in Mid' June last year and it used to rain every day in afternoon.

@nkothiyal & @Legend - Thanks for the reply.

Asking because I havn't used it before. Won't a Fleece jacket suffice instead of a raincoat ? Don't want to carry additional things.

I am also a rookies with no experience on the mountains and have never seen snow in my life, as i belong to coastal area. I think its more a mental preparation than a physical one . Read some post on AMS , HACE and HAPE as we will be ascending to to a height of more than 5000m . As far as the difficulty level is there are places of easy to difficult level of ascent .I and Abhijit Mitra's group will rendezvous at Rishikesh on 2nd Jun and from there we will start our onward journey the next day.
On equipment front if you are planning to get to the Junargali Pass then what i have know from other IM members and fellow trekkers that its advisable to equip your group with ice axe , ropes and yes raincoats are a must in that time(who knows when Indra dev will be smiling on us and bless in the form of rain).

I have come across the below blogs , which i think may also help you:-

A blog by jyotipg:-

Exploring the World Beyond Roopkund

and one from Neelima

http://www.travelwithneelima.com/200...-to-didna.html

and all about AMS,HAPE,HACE:-
