on end of June mansoon should hit in the interior. Better u go before 20th if u can. Though kalindi khal is a naughty place in any season, but still, good luck for your trek and happy journey.

Hi,
Let's see what happens and how the monsoon behaves. All depends upon weather. |

Hi,
Yes you get less snow and so less difficulties. However, due to climate change and shifting of time its difficult to plan the trek much in advance. Much depends upon weather. VSK |

Hi,
You are planning to do Himachal and Garhwal during Aug. What happened to that plan. KK requires some exp of walking in the mountains at high altitued. Hope you have sufficient exp of high altitude trekking. VSK |

Flexible dates / plan
Hi
I wanted to do VoF in August and then travel around Himachal / Uttaranchal too. However, after your suggestion that it is not a right time in view of rains, i plan to do on VoH, Hemkumd and adjoining areas for simple treks for 10 days. I have no mountaineering or difficult trek experience but would love to do KK pass. However the dates that permit me are in Sept or Nov. Do let me know if you are planning a trip then and if you feel i can do it. I can go before the team and get used to high altitude. Thanks S |

hi guys...
kalindi khal is a technical trek. it needs atleast some degree of expertise and you need to develop some high altitude trekking experience before attempting the kalindi khal trek. two years back, october 2005, we were trekking to dodital and darba top to yamunotri (and later also to kedarnath) when our guide informed us about a tragedy that had struck his team mates around the same time on the kalindi khal trek. one of the guides apparently had decided to just leave the group and go back down because of a snow storm. he was advised to stay put, but he insisted on going back. sadly, he didn't make it. anyways, these are normal occurrences on this trek and if you are moving in a group with guides, equipment, ponies, food, protective clothing, well, you should do ok...! cheers...! |
