Trek in Kashmir

Hi IndiaMikers !

I'm looking to do a 7 days trek in Kashmir around mid-November (in one week time!). The trek should take me to Gangabal, Satsar, Kishansar, Vishansar, Nichinal, Sonamarg.

Need your thoughts on a couple of questions :

1) Is this trek possible at this time of the year considering the recent snow falls (I will be having basic trekking equipement with me)

2) Do you think hiring ponies is a must ? Can one instead refuel with fresh food & water supplies at each of the above mentionned villages ?
What I fear most is being slowed down by those pleasant partners

I am a good walker and can handle the weight of a loaded backpack.

3) Can the ponies still walk on snowed pathes ?

In Kashmir, I'd suggest you hire a decent local guide?

This is already done actually.
I've hired the services of a local guide.
But since he was the only one to accept this trek route, I'm having doubts about its feasibility at this time of the year ...

I'm trying to get information on Kausar Nag (sometimes called Vishnu Pad lake). The photos make it look wonderful but i cant find any reliable information on the trek and whether it can be combined with with other treks? So instead of starting a new thread, I'm responding to this one.

If anyone has information on this - please do post here.
