Trek in end of April

Hi,

I have a week towards the end of April to the 1st week of May.
I was planning a biking trip to Leh or take the Kinnaur- Lahaul spiti circuit. But since Rohtang may not be open during this period, its ruled out.

Now I am looking for a beautiful but easy and relaxed kind of trek this time. Preferably in kumaon. I am game for Garhwal also provided its away from the yatra route.

I am pinning my hopes on Pindari. Any other recommendations?

Cheers,
JP

I think you will surely plan for all three points i.e. Pindari, Kafni and Sundardunga. You can try about ND east base camp.If you are looking for a relaxed trip , then Panchachulli base is not a bad idea.
You can also think of visting the Kanchni lake from Madhyamaheshwar. Not much crowd in that place I guess.

Hi,
Panchchuli East side is good trek and excellant views of the four peaks from the village. All five can be seen from the trail moving towards the peaks along the right bank of the river.
Again Pindari is also excellant and Kafni can be combined without and prob. One week and Sunderdhunga may not be possible. I am taking one week on the trek and does not include travelling time.
i hope by that time villagers would start moving up on the Panchchuli east side.
Bye

Thank you all for ur replies.

I understand that i can do either pindari or kafni in 6 days but not both. So, which one would you recommend?? Should I go for Pindari or KAfni?? which is more beautiful?

Hi,
Kafni is 21 Kms trip from Dwali to Kafni and back and is possible in one day without any problem.
Pindari is much better than Kafni. I don't know whether you will be able to go towards campI from Pindari. If possible keep a day for that trip. At Pindari you get view of many himalayan peaks, though NandaDevi East goes out by the time you reach the Camping ground 1 Km short of the Zero point.

Kaushal,

I have to go to Mukteswar during this trip. So, I am planning to do thsi trek in kumaon area. If I travel to himachal for malana trek, I would be spending a lot of time on travel.

Hi jyoti,
as i got to know that u r planning to go to mukteswar, here what i would suggest is though mukteshwar is fantastic place but u r also lookin forward for pindari/kafni trek too, my suggestion is instead of stayin in mukteshwar u should stay in binsar wild life santuary that is on the way to bageshwar that will be more on the direction to pindari/kafni galcier also from there u can hav an amazing view of mountains starting from garwhal then kumaoun n even some of the peaks of nepal himaliya.Pindari and Kafni both are r equally good but here i would like to know u r in which side like more towards the end of April or startin of May coz that will be the dominant factor to determine if u would be able to make up to the glacier.

Pindari in April

Hi Jyoti,
I think all the dhabas n rest houses will be open by April. The only think i m woried about is if the route to the glacier is open by that time or no not.The snow fall was late this year though it is meltin fast. My personal likin is for Kafni glacier coz i love the meadow on the route , it's really beautiful n u can actually go so close to the snout but in case of Pindari u will be seein the snout from the top (don't be amazed u will be atleast stndin 100 mts higher than the snout n it also is too far from the zero point). If u r planning in the end of april u should be lookin for a good guide than as coz by that time there must be too much snow on the route n at some places after dwali it's really triky n after Phurkia though not sure but what i hav seen over the years is it normally is all covered by snow.

Thanx Mintu.

I would be starting from Loharkhet on 30th April. Do you know of any good guide/porter who can take me to Pindari?

porter guide for pindari

Hi
Ask for Golu or Pushkar (in that order). They will be available at Song. u can also ask manager at KVMN Bageshwar for his recommendation for guide/ porter. He recommended these two guys to me.
