Tour companies for Indian Himalaya trip?

Does anybody know a good company I can book a trek with fast? I'm getting into Delhi for a wedding Oct 7th and will be free to hike after Oct 15th so I'm running out of time.

I don't have any area in mind but I prefer more lush hikes rather than desolate alpine treks. I'm figuring a 2-4 week trek.

Any info is helpful since time is of the essence.

Thanks in advance

I guess this doesn't help because you don't really want alpine. But here a government site for alpine in case you change your mind.

where do want to start from.
To start with narrow down to the state:
Himachal Pradesh or Uttranchal or Sikkim or Northeast region.
Once done that, then their would be lot of IMers who would come with the details for you.
If you ant to start with Manali, drop me a PM.

Hey Mountain man. Another IM member suggested the same company. I've already sent them an email.

I don't know yet what area I want to trek but i think it's going to be around Darjeeling because of the time (Oct 15 onward for the trek.) I want to find a trek that doesn't resemble a moon scape...lots of rocks and rubble. I like fields, forests and great views. I'm sure no matter what area i trek i'll be thrilled, but since i have a choice, i'm trying to make the right one...although time is quickly running out since i'm leaving NYC for Delhi on Oct. 7th!

Thanks for the tip.

Alot of treks don't require a guide! There are Government Rest Houses every more or less 3 hours walk! I did the Pindari Glacier trek 8 years ago and it was a beautiful walk! All along the way were Rest Houses. No need to carry much. Why pay the extra money for a guide unless you want to really get off the beaten path! Also there are offshoot's on the Pindari trek to the Kafni Glacier and the Sunderdhunga Glacier. All of which I imagine can be done in 2-3 weeks.

Hi DB

If you are planning to trek around Darjeeling, then I would suggest the Goecha La trek in Sikkim. You could do this trek in October and it combines forest, meadows and alpine. Really a very nice trek. A bit tough climb now and then but worth the view of Kanchenjunga, Pandim, Kabru and other peaks.

Also, lots of Rhododenderons.

The trek starsts at Yuksum (motorable in a day from Darjeeling). The route: Yuksum - Tshoka - Dzongri - Thansing - Samiti - Goecha La and back to Samiti - Thansing - Tshoka - Yuksum.

Let me know if you need more info.

Arjun

October is getting colder for high altitudes and as you are trekking alone-take care.
PINDARI, SUNDERDUNGA are open and are safe in this time frame.
