Wow what an experience!! Wish you had not experienced it!! ... anyway now that it is in the past, glad you survived to write a great report, that got promoted to Article status!

Congrats for Surviving! Congrats for Writing!!

BTW: During my Milam Trek, I met another Solo-Trekker, Diksha Didier (also a Survivor); while he was still in a State of Shock from a near-death experience! Next day when he got in a talking mood he told me "I learnt an important lesson yesterday - Never Trek Alone in the Mountains!"

Read that story on this link below under Day-11:

I do most of my treks solo. I trekked last week Madhyamaheshwar-Helang solo, it was fantastic. I didn't see anyone at all between Madhyamaheshwar and the village of Urgam, 4 complete walking days, a new record for me.

Perhaps not pertinent, but mountain rescue teams risk their lives worldwide to rescue solo trekkers. They advise to not go alone. One slip and you're toast.

Madhymaheshwar to Urgam and that too all alone sounds amazing…. Good job willemspie Did you use Nandi Tal trekking route to reach Urgam, or some other one. How do you identify the correct trails? Do share some more info, photographs etc here.

Yes through Nandikund, then Bansi Narayan temple (where I didn't see anyone, but I think a saddhu may live nearby). After Maddhyamaheshwar, the trail climbs to a small pass. Afterwards there is a very poor trail to the Pandusera pastures, then no trail at all to the lake, the pass and the first camp below. Some snow, not no real difficulty. Then good trail for the rest of the trek.

that's great.... can you figure out the approx. total distance in KM/Miles from Madhymaheshwar to Urgam e.g. Madhyamaheshwar to Nandi Kund and then further Nandi Kund to Urgam...

thanks

KMs no idea. But you must count on 4 full days of walking from Madhyamaheshwar temple to Urgam, 1 1/2 to 2 days Madhyamaheshwar to Nandikund.

Ah...so your post came up at last.
I had to cancel my Indrahar Pass as I was bundled off to a certain middle eastern country.

The plus point being that now when you do plan a trek to Indrahar Pass, you'll know exactly what to do and more importantly, what not to...!

Cheers...!
