Trek in Uttaranchal in March!!!!????!?

Hi I was wondering if March was a good time to do a trek in Uttaranchal? and what area? I would like to do a low altitiude trek in the himilayas, for about 3 days. Nothing too crazy, but I would love to see some spectacular views. I have never been to India before and dont know if I need to plan somehting like this before I leave or if it will all be easy once I get there. thanks for any help!

The best place for a short trek in N.India in MARCH??!!

I am not sure where to go. i will be in India for the month of March and we wanted to do a shorter trek (3-5) days in the North and see the himilayas. We want to hire a guide. Is it going
to be too snowy in the North for a trek? where is best and what kind of clothing do I need? Thanks for the help. I know I am planning ahead a bit!

Dodi Tal

I have done a trek to Dodi Tal in Uttaranchal in April. It can be done even in march. Dodi tal is a beautiful frozen lake at the height of about 3000m famous for trouts. The trek start from Kalyani near Uttarkashi. Can be done in
3 days.
Another trek may the one to Chandrashila peak (3700m) . It would offer you some stunning views of himalayas. Can be done within 3 days..

Option in Eastern Himalayas

Hi
Most of the routes may be inaccessible in the northern part due to snow. You may want to try another route in the eastern region, the Sandakphu trek in West Bengal. It is an easy trek (5 days) with awesome views of the highest peaks like the Everest, Makalu, Lohtse, Kanchenjunga, Pandim, Annapurna etc.
Moreover it can be accessed during March.
Best of luck.

This also give you a chance to have a look into Tibetan culture of Macleod Ganj where you can visit Budhist monastery and museum.

Although popular due to Manikaran where you can find HOT SPRINGS and SIKH PILGRIMAGE TEMPLE.

Thumbs up Trekking Options in March 2005

Following trails/areas can be explored in March.

Macleod Ganj to Laka Glacier : Himachal Pradesh

Solang Valley: Beas Kund trail in Himachal Pradesh ( You won't be reaching to glacial lake but you can explore scenic valley from Solang )

Pulga Kheer Ganga: Although known as Utopia paradise-this is still lesser known and lesser visited.

These are easy to approach from Delhi and saves long long travel of Uttaranchal.
