hi ks,

i am currently using eos 350d. i take pics at original size but then reduce them when hosting them on the web...to about 1200*800 size. original resolution is about 8 mpx.

earlier, i have used an olympus 2 mpix (my first one) and a sony 5 mpix (borrowed from friend).

check the narayan ashram and munsyari in snow..they r among my faves. even ur pics r breathtaking..specially ur fave pics collection

Hi Almoraboy,

OK noted your camera details ... yeah good camera! I will see the other pictures you mentioned.

I did have a look at all the pictures of Bedni Bugyal and Munsiyari-Khalia trek. After seeing those pics I think I understand "you" very well now ... you are in the same "state" I was some 3-4 years ago. Immensely, in love with the mountains and nature, particularly in the Kumaon Region.

You cannot go forward 100ft on the road from Kathgodam to Munsiyari.... without being overwhelmed by the sceneray! and you have to click a picture every 5 minutes!!

Obviously the places and scenery is so overwhelming you end up with 700 pictures ... each pic file 2MB+ size! When you get back home you quickly delete the few 20-30 out-of-focus pictures but are still left with 670!

Now how to choose 50 or 100 from the 670 to upload? You cannot decide which one to delete becos each one looks so good! and has special meaning for you as a memory-placemark of your trip. Why delete? you love each of the pictures .... and anyway you are uploading for your own sake? So upload all 670 with great difficulty and with poor the internet connection that you get in India.

In short, I understand you! Every picture of yours was worth seeing for me! Only a small minority of trekkers "in love with the mountains" will see ALL those pictures and appreciate. No matter!

Hope you maintain your passion for the mountains and nature all your life. I will see rest of your pictures in next few days. Fortunately i have BSNL Triband (Broadband) ...it works well here in Mumbai.

You might like to see some of my pictures on www.flickr.com user-Id: ks_bluechip .... An easy way using a Lite-Slideshow is to click:

http://www.people.fas.harvard.edu/~prussell/sslite/

and enter in box: ks_bluechip to see my album-sets.

One particular "Set" you may like is one of flowers in the "Butchart Gardens" Set.

i did love the video clips. it looked perfectly romantic but made my heart ache heavily!

the pic in varanasi was near hanuman ghat, i forget which road it is that goes toward the river but you come up to a big gate and a large complex including an open field. I was told it used to be the maharaja of benares' palace. i don't think much local traffic is tolerated there as there is a caretaking family living on the property but i was lead in, in order to play my sitar there, and i did return on my own a few times. the views from those window plaforms is absolutely stunning, and you can see the people on the ghats below.

I always love mountain scene after climbing a mountain. What I see from 6000m and above is very very serene as sky looks more blue and stars shine more in night.
I remember when camping at 7500m - I came out from tent in night for P. That was most wonderful moment of my life till today.
I saw moonlight lit ice slope giving reflection of moonlight.
I saw moonlighted other peaks and their full faces...
Sky with such a dark blue background and stars shining in way...that I felt..if I could jump..I will be touching them.

hi guys,
i enjoyed each & every line of the post, specialy the photos

i hav been to kusani, chakori, munsyari, tapovan, kedartal, kedarnath trek, almora, mukteshwar, lansdawn, nanital, tungnath, chandrashila, gursan (auli) but the best ranges i saw from berinag (15km from chakori)

1. i miss the opportunity to catch panchachuli in pink color & rest peaks pitch black from berinag as our driver was away for tea & my gear was in it. from here u can see the whole 350 km appx range in one go

2. from munsyari you can see panchachuli very near as well as the reflcetion on it. i stayed in kalamuni tempel for 2 days
http://rawat.fotopic.net/p24515684.html

3. the good range can be seen from gursan (5km from auli)
have merge 11 photos
http://rawat.fotopic.net/p39160881.html

this view is from Auli (from 10 no. tower)
http://rawat.fotopic.net/p39160882.html

4. have been to tungnath in april & i get photograph of my lifetime, although i stay there alone with a dog but it was worth my decision. i did'nt attempt for chandrashila cas i was alone & someone said "mountain do not go anywhere but your life can go if decision is wrong- attempt next time"

cheers.......kiran
